Job summary Central Surrey Health are currently looking for a Band 3 Respiratory Technician to join their Respiratory Care Team based at Walton Community Hospital.
The RCT provides specialist clinical advice and care, supporting the delivery of commissioned activities to adult patients within the Northwest Surrey area.
Main duties of the job Within this role, you will support with active case management to patients and carers within their home environment, at pulmonary rehabilitation programmes, during oxygen assessments and at specialist clinics/community hubs.
You will provide clinical and administrative support to the clinical team.
Training will be provided for clinical support and no previous respiratory experience is required.

Adhere to the organisations policy forhandling, recording and safe keeping of patients property.Workunder the direction of the registered clinical practitioner and assist in theimplementation of care according to the individualised care plan and contributeto the development and review of the care plans.
Liaisingwith clients, colleagues, family and other professionals in ensuring thatintegrated quality care is provided.This will include assisting clients to learn new skills that promoteindependence.Toempower clients and adopt a problem solving approach by encouraging and givingclients the confidence and skills to become independent.Toprovide a point of contact for patients and medical / clinical staff, ensuringthat client concerns are answered with skill, sensitivity and expediency.
Tosupport carers in their role of carer.This may include communication and liaison with other agencies,including partnership agencies.Toprovide practical / personal support for people identified as having complexneeds and sign post to the relevant health or social services.Tosupport clients with their personal and emotional care needs, whilst respectingtheir dignity and maximising their independence.Tocollate monthly activity data and produce charts in Excel in order to supportquarterly reports, liaising with the information department to ensure correctdata is collected.Patient / client careTo workclosely with the RCT to contribute to an efficient service for patients withchronic respiratory conditions.To beable to carry out assigned tasks involving direct patient care and withappropriate training to also include: oTakingof specimens, including sputum and others as identified by the specialistnurse/physiooRoutineobservations of heart rate, blood pressure, temperature and respiration rateoUse ofpulse oximetryoUndertakeoxygen assessments, under direction oParticipatein the running of pulmonary rehabilitation programmesTasksto be carried out strictly within the care plans / guidance set by thespecialist nurse/physio and any changes / concerns / problems to be reportedback immediately.Policy and service development Contribute to service developments to improvepractice and health care outcomes that are underpinned by local guidance,patient and carer needs and utilisation of multidisciplinary skills toformulate and test new developments.
Develop and implementevidence based clinical practice within theservice, developing specialist pathways.Contributeto measuring the effectiveness and productivity of the RCT through audits andthe collection of data for the team performance reports.Contributeto and participate in the review and development of policies, procedures andstrategies in the interest of users, the team and the organisation.
Lead withwriting policies and procedures relating to Communityrespiratory care.Undertakeroot cause analysis following serious incidents and then produce and implementrelated learning and development plans.Participatein clinical networks locally to develop clinical links and help forge newnetworks across Surrey Heartlands and nationally.Contributeto the development and delivery of CSH Surrey objectives and assist in thedelivery of Clinical Governance arrangements, performance management andworking to agree quality standards.Financial and physical resourcesEnsurethat all resources are used effectively, with the minimum of waste, makingrecommendations where it is evident that appropriate changes may improveefficiency.Ensuremaintenance of technical, clinical and non-clinical equipment computer andprinter equipment, and to respond to reports of defects.Contributeto effective and economic use of resources local recycling schemesHuman resourcesWorksfollowing direction from registered HCP and within the limitations of the role,always promoting high quality care and developing own skills and knowledgewhere appropriate.
