Developing personal and practical skills to enhance young peoples independence skills.
Ensuring that childrens and young people diverse communication needs are met ascertaining their views and wishes and these are acted upon where appropriate Reporting and recording key aspects of care and developing your professional skills as part of on-going development.
Managing complex behaviours that can be challenging.
Depending on the needs of the child/young person this may require you to provide personal intimate care and/or nursing care support to holistically support children and young people.
Work in collaboration and also directly with families and other professionals to ensure best outcomes for children and young people.
You will hold or be willing to work towards the Level 3 Diploma for Residential Child Care (paid for).

Job description Job responsibilities To contribute to young peoples care plans, risk assessments and health care plans, their review and implementation.
To form effective relationships with young people and their families to ensure that: a caring environment is maintained, their emotional, physical,medicaland social needs are met,safe carestandards are met and opportunities for their development are maximised.
This includes providing hands on direct care, including intimate personal care.
To ensure that disableds childrens and young peoples diverse communications needs are adhered to, ascertaining their views and wishes and these are acted upon where appropriate.
Person Specification Experience Essential Ability to form effective relationships with children and act as a positive role model.
Good level of applied literacy and numeracy.
Desirable A minimum of 12 months experience of childcare work.
Understanding the signs of safety approach or willingness to undertake the training.
Understanding of childcare law.
Knowledge of child protection and disability issues.
Knowledge of augmented communication systems.
Qualifications Essential Ability to attain a NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care within 18 months of appointment.
Willingness to undertake relevant training courses.
Desirable Good standard of educational achievement - 5 GSCE passes or above or equivalent qualifications.
