The Precision Medicine function in the Translational Science department is looking for a Research Scientist within the Biomarker Assay Sciences LBA group on a 12month contract commencing August 2024.
The Precision Medicine function provides bioanalytical and biomarker assay support for nonclinical and clinical phases of drug development aiding progression of our candidate molecules from research into the clinic.
This role is predominantly laboratorybased.
It may be possible to work from home up to one day per week as work permits.
The successful candidate will join the highly experienced and energetic nonregulatory LBA biomarker team.
Expect to be involved in the development optimisation and validation of ligand binding assays / immunoassays for biomarkers and gene therapy targets to support progression of novel drug candidates through various stages of discovery and development.
You will be encouraged to present your data at multidisciplinary project team meetings and to understand the underlying biology and therapeutic approach of the programmes you are supporting.
Transfer of methods to external partners may also be expected (traveling for this purpose is not anticipated although in exceptional circumstances may be required).
Laboratory equipment must be maintained to high standards and you must remain compliant with all health and safety Human Tissue Act (HTA) and any other applicable regulations.
Requirements Essential skills education and experience: Candidates should have a BSc MSc or PhD in a biological discipline.
# years experience of working in a laboratory environment Proven experience running ligand binding assays/immunoassays (e.g.
ELISA MSD ELLA Gyros Singulex Simoa/Quanterix) and/or demonstrable skills in development and validation of such assays.
The ability to solve complex analytical challenges.
Excellent communication skills.
Adaptable to changing project and organizational priorities.
The willingness to learn new skills.
Desirable but not essential: Experience in a bioanalytical laboratory in a biotech or pharmaceutical drug discovery and development environment.
Biomarker assay development experience Awareness of the principles of fitforpurpose assay validation to meet a biomarker context of use within the drug discovery and development environment.
Experience of method transfer (e.g.
to external providers collaborators).
Experience of working with multidisciplinary teams / external partners.
