About the role The Nathwani group has developed cutting edge gene therapy approaches for a variety of monogentic disorders including haemophilia A and B as well as Lysosomal storage disorders such as Fabry and Gaucher's disease.
In addition to AAV, the group has deep experience with other gene transfer technologies such as lentiviral vectors which are used in our immunotherapy programme targeting haematological malignancies as well as solid tumours.
Current focus of the group is to extend the clinical application of gene therapy to a wider range of disorders through the development of next generation of gene transfer vectors designed to improve safety and efficiency of gene transfer.We are recruiting a Research fellow, Grade 7/8 depending on experience but candidate must have a PhD.
If this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Research Assistant grade 6B with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.

About you Successful applicants must have a BSc in molecular biology or other relevant discipline and a PhD or expecting to complete PhD.Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at research assistant Grade 6B with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.Skills on Molecular biology, DNA and RNA extraction and cell culture are essential.
For appointment at Grade 8, prior experience on Gene therapy and Immunology and experience in design and running of murine models are essential.
