The Centre for Translation and Interpreting seeks a highly productive, ambitious and collaborative individual to be a member of our Deaf Studies/Sign Language research project, assisting in the development of research proposals and the planning and delivery of research activity, particularly for projects that will have a direct benefit for the Northern Irish Deaf community.
The successful applicant will have responsibilities in independent research and outreach, as well as regular reporting to our funders and sponsors - the Department for Communities and the Ulster Society for the Education of the Deaf and Blind.
Areas of particular interest to the project are: Accessibility and Inclusion for d/Deaf students in Further and Higher Education.
To what extent and in what ways is poverty experienced by the d/Deaf community?
The d/Deaf community and ageing - experiences of older d/Deaf people in Northern Ireland.
The identification of positive role models for young d/Deaf people.
Preference may therefore be given to applicants who demonstrable ability to undertake research and produce outputs in at least one of these areas.
About the person: The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following criteria: 1.
Relevant PhD.

Level 6 BSL, or the equivalent for ISL (or above).
