Job summary As the saying goes, no two days will be the same, but overall, you'll be doing but not limited to: Work within the interdisciplinary team to provide and supervise specialist psychological assessment and treatment (group and individual) for adults referred with chronic pain.
Assessments and treatments should be consistent with evidence-based psychological approaches, including CBT, third wave and other psychological approaches.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is the predominant therapeutic approach within the service.Conduct pre-and post-treatment assessments and formulate and implement plans for the treatment of people with chronic pain, based upon the interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources, an appropriate conceptual framework of the client's problems and in consultation with psychology and non-psychology colleagues, where appropriate.
This requires an appreciation of complex medical and pharmaceutical issues and their relation to potential psychological sequelae and clinical management issues.Engage patients who often present with complex psychological needs, issues of not being believed, anger or mistrust.
The post holder will require excellent communication and relationship skills to provide and receive complex, sensitive and potentially contentious information; and respond to significant barriers to acceptance; hostile, antagonistic or highly emotive situations.

To as Main duties of the job Are you a seasoned psychologist with a passion for leadership and innovation?
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Principal Psychologist to join our dynamic team.
You will use your knowledge, experience and brilliant skills to provide advice and consultation on psychological aspects of pain management to other health professionals and to advance students and colleagues knowledge and practice of psychological theories and principles.
You will proactively develop and promote a positive and dynamic image and culture and will be key in fostering productive relationships with key stakeholders such as NHS Talking Therapies service providers, patients and the public.
You will be a HCPC registered Clinical or Health Psychologist and will have experience of working within a physical health setting delivering individual and group interventions.
You will preferably have good knowledge of the current evidence base in relation to psychological approaches to pain management.
