As a Registered Nurse within the recovery team, you'll be an integral part of our healthcare team and work as a skilled member of the nursing team to assist in high level of care for patients.
This requires planning, assessment, implementation and evaluation of patient's condition and care following agreed care pathways.
You will be confident in responding to changes in condition, proposing/making changes to care plan as required to assist with the provision of an environment conductive to clinical excellence.
Key Responsibilities: To provide and maintain the highest possible standard of nursing care for the patients and their families by ensuring that an on-going welcoming, caring and safe environment is provided for the patients.
Assessing, developing and implementing patient care plans whilst evaluating care given, ensuring all documentation is completed accurately, giving and receiving patient centred handovers.
Follow guidelines on maintaining patient's notes and documents, ensuring legibility and accuracy of nursing records, being aware of the legal implications of these documents.
Monitoring and assessing patient's condition, responding to changes in condition, proposing/making changes to care plan as required.
Directing and participating in the manoeuvring and the positioning of conscious and unconscious patients.
Handover and transferring responsibility of care to colleagues, ensuring appropriate information and care is relayed.
Ensure good communication exists between all healthcare professionals caring for patients and to promote harmonious working relationships and safe working practices.
To take all measures to ensure the safety of patients.
To report all accidents/incidents promptly to the nurse in charge, also completing the relevant form correctly.
To be competent in the administration of Intravenous and Oral drugs and to undertake relevant drug administration training to comply with corporate guidelines for the control of all drugs.
To assist with safe custody, storage and ordering of all drugs.
To develop a progressing knowledge of common conditions their management and treatment.
To be familiar with all departmental and emergency equipment, ensuring it is checked in line with policy ensuring any problems with equipment are reported and the equipment removed from use as appropriate.
After a period of supervision be able to undertake and deliver education and advice to patients, being able to identify risk factors and lifestyle changes that may influence patient outcomes.
To ensure the safe care and custody of patient's property and valuables in line with the agreed procedure.
Ensure that nursing procedures are implemented and maintained in accordance with Clinical Governance policies.
Collect statistical information and assist in carrying out audit as required in relation to the service and attend educational audit process for the unit.
Act at all times in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and to ensure that the nursing procedures are implemented and maintained in accordance with Clinical Governance policy.
Report and assist in investigating complaints/untoward incidents.
Various shifts covering from Monday to Saturday and on-calls.
Essential Requirements: NMC professional registration Registered Nurse (level 1) with 1-2 years experience An awareness of research and evidence-based practice in the clinical setting Airway management is essential Clear understanding of pain and pain control Evidence of Continuous Professional Development Intravenous Therapy Skills Interest & academic ability to undertake further training within a particular specialty.
