Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Neonatal Unit, ensuring that patient care standards and safety protocols are maintained.
Act as a role model for clinical practice, providing guidance and support to junior nurses, allied health professionals, and other team members.
Contribute to service development and transformation within the unit, ensuring continuous improvement and adapting to the changing needs of the population.
Participate in training and development activities, including providing supervision and mentoring to staff.
Collaborate with Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners, Neonatal Community Outreach Nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a seamless care experience for babies and families.
Ensure that all care provided aligns with local and national guidelines, policies, and best practices.

Job description Job responsibilities Asa member of the Neonatal teamwork in partnership with Children's ProfessionalDevelopment and Education Team, support the review and development of theannual departmental education, training and development plans and ensure theyremain relevant and contributory to Corporate plans.Tocoordinate the Neonatal Unit working in collaboration with Maternity andChildren services.Toprovide and be responsible for the assessment of care needs, the development,implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for a number of babiesrequiring intensive, high dependency and special care.Tohelp plan and maximise opportunities to deliver work-based learning for studentnurses and non-medical registered workforce.Supportthe monitoring, recording and reporting of student activity.Supportand maintain the mentor register.Tosupport the development and implementation of the Trusts model of clinicalsupervision.Tosupport the Children's Professional Development and Education Team and ensurethe development, maintenance and implementation of a competency based frameworkfor all areas of clinical practice.Be competent and expert in the safe and securehandling of medicines and supervise and assess junior staff learning theseskills.Tobe responsible for the management and organisation of own workload.Acknowledgeany limitations in own knowledge and competency and decline any duties orresponsibilities unless able to perform them in a safe a competent manner.Developspecialist knowledge and expertise of nursing practice to act as a resource forother staff.Show an awareness of your own capabilities andarea for improvement.Ensure attendance and completion of allmandatory study days of self and others.Provide guidance and support to staff onproblems affecting their work.Share knowledge, skills and experience and workcollaboratively with colleagues.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Professional Qualification.
Registered Nurse/Registered Childrens Nurse.
Post graduate qualification in relevant area of practice / commitment to undertake degree programme.
Recognised Teaching and assessing qualification or willingness to undertake.
Evidence of continuing professional development.
Newborn Life Support Qualification.
Desirable Preparation for Mentorship/Support Learning in Practice qualification or equivalent.
Evidence of MSc level study or working towards.
First degree in health-related subject.
Experience Essential Significant post registration experience.
Evidence of clinical and professional expertise underpinned by knowledge acquired through CPD.
Ability to apply audit and evidence-based nursing practice.
