Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen to expand our current service within the surgical emergency assessment unit at the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital.
We are looking for a Band 5 nurse to join our team and support a 7 day service to acutely unwell surgical patients.
The Cheerful Sparrows Female ward specialises in surgical and orthopedic care therefore some basic knowledge is recommended, however not essential.
Main duties of the job To provide clinical and professional skills within the CSF and work collaboratively within the multi-disciplinary team.
You will care for a variety of surgical and orthopedic patients within the day and will be expected to be able to carry out nurse led assessments of your patients and recognise a deteriorating patient.
The acuity of the unit can change hourly so it is important you are able to prioritise your work load effectively in order to keep yourselves and the patients safe.You will also be required to assist your patients getting ready for theatre if they are required to have surgery and be able to care for them prior to their operation.
You will be required to facilitate safe discharges if required and plan appropriate admissions to hospital.
