Job summary Registered Band 5 Staff Nurse working on the Acute medical unit delivering high standards of quality care.
Fixed term until February 2026.
24 hours per week.The acute medical unit is a fast paced, acute care environment; assessing, prioritising and caring for a multitude of patient and families, with specific acute care needs and long term conditions.
AMU is a 29 bedded Short Stay Unit with the potential to be escalated to 39 patients.
We care for patients with acute care needs for up to 72 hrs and look after speciality patients until a bed becomes available in the appropriate area.

Main duties of the job Manage and provide all aspects of patient care.Admit, assess & escalate any concerns to nurse in charge.Assessing NEWS score and effectively managing.Act in accordance with the NMC code of professional conduct.Support other nurses in the ward team as necessary.Demonstrate practice based on current advances in nursing practice and research.Comply with infection prevention and control procedures at all times.Comply with responsibility to safeguard children and vulnerable adults, ensuring attendance at appropriate training.Take personal responsibility for putting the person receiving care first, and to challenge poor care, doing so as soon as any shortcomings are seen.
