Job summary Eden ValleyHospice is a dynamic and responsive specialist care provider for people withpalliative and end of life care needs.
We have an exciting opportunity for a RegisteredNurse to join our energetic, friendly, specialist palliative care team on ourin patient unit.
Based inCarlisle, we have a 10-bed adult inpatient unit, a children'shospice, outreach and wellbeing services and patient and family support.We workcollaboratively across the county with strong links to other care providers.The hospices vision is to provide excellence in specialist palliativecare and to ensure patients receive consistently high standards of care in allcare settings within the organisation.

There is a culture of reflection, training, support and developmentfor all staff, with access to regular clinical supervision and training.Our preference would be for the post holder to work various shifts (12hours) on rotation between days, nights and weekends.Interviews will take place on Monday 3rd February 2025.
Main duties of the job As a Registered Nurse, you will be working as part ofa multidisciplinary team, and will beresponsible for planning,co-ordinating, delivering and evaluating person-centred and evidence-basedpalliative care for patients, families and carers.
Dueto excellent staff to patient ratios, you will have timeto care for and build relationships with patients and their families.

Job description Job responsibilities PurposeAs part of a multi-disciplinary team, plan,co-ordinate, deliver and evaluate person-centred and evidence-based palliative careto patients, families and carers.
Contribute to the Hospice vision of providingexcellence in special palliative care.
Act as a role model to support othermembers of the team to ensure that high standards of care are delivered.KEYRESPONSIBILITIES (which include, but not limited to): Beingan Accountable Professional Understand and act in accordance with The NMC Code: Professionalstandards of practice and behaviour for nurses, midwives and nursingassociates, and fulfil all registration requirements.
Understand and apply relevant legal, regulatory and governancerequirements, policies, and ethical frameworks, including any mandatoryreporting duties, to all areas of practice.
Use appropriate research methods, ethics and governance in order to criticallyanalyse, safely use, share and apply research findings to promote and inform bestnursing practice.
Communicate effectively, to an advanced level, using a range of skillsand strategies with colleagues, wider MDT, external contacts, patients and theirfamilies.
Develop, manage and maintain appropriate relationships with people, theirfamilies, carers and colleagues.

Understand and apply the relevant laws aboutmental capacity when making decisions in relation to people who do not havecapacity.
Recognise and assess people at risk of harm and the situations that mayput them at risk, ensuring prompt action is taken to safeguard those who arevulnerable.Providingand Evaluating Care Apply an understanding of what is important to people and how to use thisknowledge to ensure their needs for safety, dignity, privacy, comfort and sleepcan be met, acting as a role model for others in providing evidence-basedperson-centred care.
Prioritise what is important to people and their families when providingevidence-based person-centred nursing care at end of life including the care ofpeople who are dying, families, the deceased and the bereaved.
Understand and apply the principles of safe and effective administrationand optimisation of medicines in accordance with local and national policiesand demonstrate proficiency and accuracy when calculating dosages of prescribedmedicines.
Co-ordinate and undertake the processes and procedures involved in routineplanning and management of safe discharge home or transfer of people betweencare settings.
Monitor and evaluate the quality of care delivered by self, others in theteam and lay carers.Leadingand Managing Nursing Care and Working in Teams Demonstrate an understanding of the roles, responsibilities and scope ofpractice of all members of the clinical team and how to make best use of the contributionsof others involved in providing care.
