Make a Home at Taylor WimpeyJob summary/PurposeThe Regional Solicitor is a key role within the Group Legal team, providing full legal support to Taylor Wimpey's business operations in relation to the acquisition, development and disposal of land for residential purposes (and related matters) and other tasks as may be required from time to time.

This includes the overall management of legal services to TW on a regional basis, working closely with both internal management teams and external legal service providers as appropriate.
The Regional Solicitor should be a trusted adviser and "sounding board" to their BU Management Teams, Divisional Chair(s) and Strategic Land Management Teams.
Primary ResponsibilitiesOverall Management of Legal Services for assigned BUs:Overall management of legal services and all development related legal issues on a regional basis, liaising with Divisional Chair(s) and Business Unit Managing Directors, Land Directors, Strategic Managing Directors and Land Directors, other members of the legal team and other regional management and staff as may be necessary, in relation to all legal aspects of TW's day to day operational business.The Regional Solicitor's specialist skills are in respect of land and property law, however the Regional Solicitor is available to provide broader legal and commercial advice and direction to appropriate specialist legal support as necessary.Management of relationships with panel and other law firms and enforcing compliance with the legal requirements of the Operating Framework and panel firm appointment terms and conditions.
High level monitoring of transactions and maximising value received from the panel law firms and ensuring the data entered onto the TW Legal Portal is complete and accurate.
Collation of data in relation to Regional Solicitor time and value added services.Transactional Work:Undertake some hands on transactional work including land acquisition/disposal by way of outright purchase, conditional contracts, options, collaboration and joint venture agreements and affordable housing sales, usually on a "golden brick" basis.Involvement in development related planning advice and documentation, development agreements, JV agreements and all ancillary development related documents/agreements.Other project work and legal tasks that may be assigned from time to time.Working with the Group Legal team and Panel law firms:Help to develop and promote the Group Legal team as a key part of TW's operations by providing high quality legal advice and acting as both facilitators and guardians of policy and best practice.Sharing TW's common commercial objectives by acting as legal, commercial and transactional facilitators and also acting as "informed client" in managing the most cost-effective provision of external legal services to the business.Helping to identify and manage risk in relation to legal and operational issues relating to the Company's day to day operations.Liaising with Divisional Legal Managers and conveyancing team in relation to plot conveyancing related issues.
This includes facilitating the smooth hand-over of sites, including those acquired by external Panel firms so as to ensure an efficient site set up.Supporting the Group General Counsel and Company Secretary with ad hoc projects as may be required from time to time.Assisting with the provision of guidance/training to the business, including on:Current / new legislation and regulatory matters affecting TW's business operations.Internal policies on legal and compliance topics.Standardisation of processes and promotion of best practice for all legal matters.Preparation of specific standard form documentation relating to all aspects of development land acquisition and disposals (other than plot conveyancing)Experience, Qualifications, Technical RequirementsQualified SolicitorExperience in Residential developmentBe able to communicate well with all stakeholdersSet clear and professional standardsBe well planned and organisedDevelop good relations and act with integrityInclusivity StatementAs a proud Disability Confident Employer, Taylor Wimpey is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workforce.
