Job Purpose :
The primary purpose of the Construction Recruitment Consultant is to attract, source, and place skilled professionals in construction-related roles.
This involves understanding the specific needs of clients, conducting candidate searches, and maintaining a network of qualified individuals in the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities :
Client Management Build and maintain relationships with clients in the construction & rail sectors Consult with clients to understand their hiring needs, project requirements, and company culture.
Negotiate terms of service with new and existing clients.
Candidate Sourcing : Identify and source candidates through a variety of channels, including job boards, social media, and professional networks.
Use headhunting techniques to find qualified passive candidates for hard-to-fill positions.
Maintain a pipeline of candidates for future openings, specialising in areas such as civil engineering, site management, construction labor, etc.
Candidate Screening : Conduct initial interviews with candidates to assess their qualifications, experience, and suitability for specific construction roles.
Perform background checks, reference checks, and verify certifications/licenses as required for construction-related positions.
Match candidates to roles based on skills, experience, and cultural fit.
Job Advertising : Write and post job descriptions tailored to client needs across multiple job platforms and social media.
Monitor and track the success of job postings and recruitment campaigns.
Contract Negotiation : Oversee salary negotiations between candidates and employers, ensuring a fair agreement for both parties.
Provide support with the preparation and signing of contracts, ensuring legal compliance with employment laws in the construction industry.
Compliance and Documentation : Ensure all candidates placed are fully compliant with relevant health and safety regulations, construction certifications, and industry standards.
Maintain accurate records and documentation of client and candidate interactions.
Market Research : Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, salary benchmarks, and construction regulations.
Conduct regular market analysis to identify growth opportunities within the construction sector.
Key Skills & Qualifications :
Education : Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or Construction Management (optional but beneficial).
Experience : Proven recruitment experience, ideally within the construction industry or a related sector.
Communication : Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to present candidates effectively and communicate with clients at all levels.
Sales & Negotiation : Ability to sell recruitment services, negotiate terms with clients, and manage candidate expectations.
Networking : Strong networking and relationship-building skills to create and maintain a pool of candidates.
Organization : Ability to manage multiple recruitment projects simultaneously.
Knowledge of Construction Industry : Understanding of construction roles, industry certifications, and relevant labor laws.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) :
Number of successfully placed candidates per month/quarter.
Client satisfaction and repeat business.
Time to fill roles.
Growth of candidate database.
Job posting engagement and response rate.
Career Progression :
A successful Construction Recruitment Consultant may progress to senior consultant roles, team leader, or even management positions within the recruitment firm, handling larger accounts or expanding into other sectors.
Salary :
Base salary plus commission, with earnings potential dependent on recruitment success and individual performance.
