The Opportunity
Are you an experienced Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) professional who can combine strategic leadership, specialist knowledge, and an enthusiasm for fostering an inclusive community? We are seeking a dynamic and inspiring leader to become our Dean for Culture and Inclusion (C&I), helping us to:
Shape and implement institution-wide EDI strategies and initiatives.
Drive cultural change to create an equitable and welcoming environment for all students and staff.
Champion EDI across research, teaching, engagement, and widening participation activities.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure EDI is embedded in decision-making processes.
Deliver impactful initiatives to address institutional barriers and promote diversity.

The Role
As Dean for C&I, you will work closely with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and other senior leaders, providing expert advice and strategic direction on all aspects of EDI. You will lead efforts to embed inclusive practices across the University and ensure accountability for progress towards our EDI goals. Your responsibilities will include:
Overseeing the Anti-Harassment and Bullying Team and related initiatives.
Leading EDI programme boards and steering committees.
Developing and implementing strategies to close disparities and address underrepresentation.
Acting as an ambassador for Lancaster University in regional, national, and international EDI forums.
Fostering a culture of respect, belonging, and open dialogue across the University.
About You
We are looking for someone with:
Significant experience in EDI leadership within a complex organisation.
Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills to engage diverse stakeholders.
A proven track record of designing and implementing effective EDI initiatives.
The ability to analyse and interpret data to inform strategy and decision-making.
A passion for creating an equitable and inclusive organisational culture.

Contract and Contact
This is full time role (though requests for a fractional 0.8 FTE equivalent role,would be considered) and an indefinite post with a hybrid work pattern, and we are happy to discuss flexible working arrangements.
