The successful candidate will be instrumental in engaging and motivating students, helping them navigate the study of religious beliefs, values, and ethical questions.
You will support students in gaining a deep understanding of diverse cultures and perspectives, while promoting empathy, tolerance, and spiritual development.
Your lessons will be interactive, thought-provoking, and aligned with the curriculum, encouraging students to think critically about the role of religion in today's world.
Key Responsibilities: Plan and deliver dynamic RE lessons for students of all abilities across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
Teach a variety of religious traditions, philosophies, and worldviews, fostering an atmosphere of respectful exploration.
Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and maintaining strong communication with parents.
Promote critical thinking and discussion on ethical, moral, and philosophical issues, helping students develop balanced perspectives.
Create an inclusive, supportive classroom where students feel comfortable expressing their thoughts and beliefs.
Design and adapt lesson plans to accommodate the diverse needs of all learners, including those with SEN and EAL.
Contribute to the ongoing development of the RE curriculum, ensuring alignment with National Curriculum standards and exam board requirements.
Lead and participate in extracurricular activities such as trips, guest lectures, and workshops that enhance students' religious education experience.
Stay current with educational trends and best practices through continuous professional development.
Maintain effective classroom management and uphold school behaviour policies to create a positive learning environment.
Collaborate with colleagues and other departments to provide cross-curricular learning opportunities.
Qualifications and Experience: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a focus on Religious Education or a related subject.
A degree in Religious Studies, Theology, Philosophy, or a related field.
Experience teaching RE at the secondary level, ideally across Key Stage 3 and 4 (Key Stage 5 experience is a plus).
Strong knowledge of the UK National Curriculum and relevant RE exam specifications (GCSE, A-Level).
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to inspire and engage students from diverse backgrounds.
