Rail Manager

Description We are currently seeking a Rail Manager to join our great team at our Hope Cement Works, Derbyshire.
The rail team play a key role in cement distribution through our rail network.
Key Responsibilities To effectively manage the rail operations, including filling and loading, and track maintenance.
This role is responsible for the overall management of the rail function through the management of a team of direct colleagues and contractors on site, while maintaining compliance at all times and assessing key competencies.
The Group places the highest importance on sustained standards of excellence in all aspects of Health, Safety and Environmental management and you will be expected to contribute to the Company's zero harm culture.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise Experience at effective forecasting Full and up to date certification for locomotive operation to Network Rail standards  Thorough understanding of the competency requirements for locomotive drivers and rail group standard rule books Experience of controlling safety within rail infrastructure including management of contractors Knowledge and understanding of rail track inspection / maintenance programs Excellent analytical skills with proven strength in understanding complex business processes and problems Sound understanding of business management systems including relevant Standards e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 9001 & ISO 45001 Experience in effectively leading a team  A proven ability to act with diplomacy and fairness Highly organised and driven with the ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload Excellent verbal and written communication skills An improvement mindset regarding health, safety, environment and operational efficiency Drive & dedication Team orientated approach Influencing skills Ability to recognise & engage effectively with a range of stakeholders Capable of effective decision-making Good organisational skills Strong personal integrity Job Benefits Life Assurance 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, then increasing with service Holiday Buy Scheme Retirement Holiday Scheme Contributory Pension Scheme Free on-site Parking Volunteer Scheme Share Save Scheme Enhanced Maternity, Adoption & Paternity Scheme Health & Wellbeing Programme Discount Scheme Subsidised canteen and Gym on site Breedon is a leading vertically-integrated construction materials group in Great Britain and Ireland.
