Main duties of the job This post will provide managerial leadership for the radiography teams.
You will be responsible for the operational processes of the radiotherapy service within the defined resources and establish key working relationships will be established with the other Managing Radiographers and the Lead Clinician for Radiotherapy, Consultant Clinical Oncologists, Radiotherapy Physics Staff and Technical Staff as well as the key members of the wider cancer centre.
The post holder will maintain the highest professional and technical standards of radiotherapy and maintain their clinical expertise by working clinically within the stereotactic field.
The post holder will provide expertise in the stereotactic and adaptivefields, to ensure a robust and high quality patient pathway is provided from referral to discharge.
A key role will be to develop, introduce and facilitate new techniques, ensuring teaching and training programmes are implemented within defined timescales.

A video about the Royal Surrey - Job description Job responsibilities This role serves to work within the existing operational radiotherapy management team, leading the operational management of the radiotherapy department with a particular responsibility of overseeing development and management of new services and developments (including stereotactic and adaptive) within the is a key post within the department, having responsibility for the effective management of the operational service.
The post holder is responsible for managing efficient and timely patient pathways within the Royal Surrey Cancer Centre.
A key function of this role will be supporting the development of the stereotactic and adaptive radiotherapy services, integrating them with the wider cancer centre on all geographical sites.
The post holder will work closely with the clinicians and supportivestaff to ensure patients receive high quality care.
They will ensure that the specialist commissioned service is maintained, following the national guidelines of preparation, delivery and data collection.
The Royal Surrey Cancer Centre is focused on providing excellent patient pathways and patient-centred care.
We strive to continuously evolve to reflect the technical advances within Radiotherapy.
To that end, we have recently completed the replacement of two of our Varian TrueBeams with a Varian ETHOS and a Varian Halcyon at our satellite centre.
These units are the first in the NHS for in-bore SGRT and we are scheduled to be the first Centre to implement Hypersight later this year.
Surface guided radiotherapy system installation will further improve the accuracy of treatment and present the opportunity for tattoo-less radiotherapy.
Our patients benefit from access to two ETHOS units, one Halcyon and four TrueBeams across our two radiotherapy centres.
We have three planning CT scanners, an exceptional Brachytherapy service which provides HDR, LDR and Papillon kV contact treatment; as well as an Xstrahl superficial machine.
Key to this role will be supporting the development of the stereotactic and adaptive radiotherapy services, integrating them with the wider cancer centre on all geographical sites.
Expert leadership and professionalism will be required to drive and support these radiotherapy services.
You will work closely with the Lead Radiographers, clinicians and support staff to ensure that patients received high quality care.
You will ensure that the specialist commissioned service is maintained, following the national guidelines of preparation, delivery and data collection.
Our main site is based at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford and our satellite centre at East Surrey Hospital in Redhill.
Guildford gives easy access to the beautiful North & South Downs, is an hour from the coast and has great transport links to the surrounding counties of Berkshire, Hampshire and Sussex.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential HCPC Registration BSc Radiotherapy or DCR (T) Evidence of relevant post qualification training and education Evidence of continuous personal, professional and academic development Desirable SoR Advanced Practitioner Registration MSc in relevant subject or evidence of working towards Knowledge and Experience Essential Significant demonstrable post qualification experience in therapeutic radiography Advanced all round knowledge of radiotherapy techniques Advanced use of computerised department record and verify systems Desirable Experience of delivering service improvements or other major projects Experience in managing people Experience in managing projects Experience of collaborating with other staff-groups outside of Radiotherapy Experience in managing budgets
