AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector. The AWS Global Support team interacts with leading companies and believes that world-class support is critical to customer success. AWS Support also partners with a global list of customers that are building mission-critical applications on top of AWS services.
The AWS Life Science R&D Strategist is responsible for driving new business opportunities and revenue growth within the largest global pharmaceutical companies. This role requires a deep understanding of the life science R&D industry, the ability to identify and qualify high-potential opportunities, and the skills to collaborate cross-functionally to deliver tailored solutions that address our customers' evolving needs. You will work closely with the sales and technical teams to identify, qualify, and close new customer R&D workloads. In addition, this individual is responsible for identifying industry wide R&D trends to inform AWS product development and thought leadership with our customer base.
Key job responsibilities Developing and implementing strategy to grow presence in new accounts and expand existing relationships with leading BioPharma clients.Leveraging market intelligence, industry trends, and customer insights to identify high-value sales opportunities and craft targeted sales strategies in R&D.Collaborating closely with sales, technical, and product teams to understand customer requirements, propose innovative cloud-based solutions, and secure new business.Maintaining a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities and consistently exceeding sales targets through strategic account planning and execution.Providing strategic recommendations to the leadership team on product roadmap, go-to-market strategies, and other initiatives to better serve the life science R&D community.Staying abreast of industry developments, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies to anticipate customer needs and position our offerings accordingly.Providing feedback and insights to the product and marketing teams to help improve AWS life science offerings. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS Experience in developing, negotiating and executing business agreements.Experience with business development, partnership management, or sourcing new business.Experience writing technical articles, speaking at technology conferences, and contributing to open source.Experience developing and executing on GTM strategies that are large in scope.15+ years of experience in sales, business development, or account management, preferably in the life science and cloud technology industries. Deep knowledge of BioPharma R&D, including R&D IT systems landscape, data flow and data management. Strong understanding of cloud computing, data management, and life science research workflows. Deep understanding of Bio Pharma Market, including Cell and Gene Therapies, Biologics, Large Molecule Development, etc. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience developing, deploying and managing AI products at scale.Experience interfacing with customers (Enterprise, SMB, and Startups) and ability to convert customer requirements to high level architecture solutions to build on.Deep understanding of cloud and data in life science R&D.Familiarity with AWS or other major cloud platforms.Understanding of bioinformatics, genomics, GenAi, AI/ML or other life science research disciplines.Track record of exceeding sales targets and achieving revenue growth.Advanced degree in a Life Science relevant field preferred.
