Eastern Green Link 1 (EGL1) is a groundbreaking two-gigawatt high voltage direct current electrical superhighway that will stretch from the Torness area in East Lothian, Scotland, to Hawthorn Pit in County Durham, England.
This ambitious project is set to unlock Scotland's vast renewable energy reserves, dramatically boosting the UK's capacity to transport clean energy from its source to where it's needed most.
With its innovative multi-directional design, EGL1 will also enhance the resilience and stability of the UK's transmission networks, paving the way for a sustainable energy future.Prysmian UK is thrilled to announce that we've been awarded the prestigious land-cable installation for the Eastern Green Link (EGL) 1 project!
EGL1 is our largest project to date, with preparatory and site works spanning from 2024 to 2029.
As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join our team.
Travel between the two sites will be required.ResponsibilitiesDevelop cost estimates and project budgets.Review construction plans and specifications to identify cost-effective solutions.Track project progress and manage costs throughout the project lifecycle.Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure favorable pricing.Prepare tender documents, contracts, and valuations.Assess and draft contracts for project needs.Handle AFP (Applications for Payment) and invoicing.Liaise with the client and other construction professionals, such as site managers, project managers and site engineers.To ensure all labour and materials are arranged prior to project commencement (all size projects).Prepare tender and project execution documents, Write and review third party (civils, design and HDD etc) subcontracts, DOR, RFQ/SOW and price schedule to ensure an alignment to required works and associated costing.Conduct regular (weekly) on-site visits to assess progress and verify quantitiesQualifications & RequirementsProven experience in a similar position, preferably within energy / renewables or construction environment Hold excellent analytical and numerical abilitiesExceptional attention to detail.Knowledge of construction practices, materials, and regulations.Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft officeAbility to leverage persuasive inter-personal skills enabling lasting and influential relationships to be built.Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.A qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field is preferred.What we offer • 25 days holiday plus statutory holidays• Defined Contribution pension scheme and generous life assurance• Yes Share Scheme – annual enrolment• Health Care Cash Plan – scheme which provides reimbursement of optical, dental and chiropody fees up to set limits.• 24/7 free and confidential employee counselling service• On-line Language Learning Access• Enhanced maternity and paternity leave and pay• Generous sick pay arrangements• EE Mobile Discounts• Dell Advantage discounts• Rewards Portal – discounts on major retailers• Cycle to work scheme• Free onsite parking• Transition to Retirement Policy• Vitality scheme• Free Flu JabYour application data will be treated according to our Data Protection Policy.
