Quantity Surveyor Our client is one of the UKs leading multi-disciplinary utilities, LV / HV power, telecommunications, multi-utility, civil engineering, infrastructure, and EV and renewable energy contractors.
Our client has the skills and expertise to design and deliver complex projects in highly regulated and hazardous environments across a number of different service lines, regional offices and business units.
Overview Due to continued expansion and the commitment to sustained and profitable growth, our client now wishes to appoint a highly motivated and suitably experienced Quantity Surveyor.
Working from home and reporting to the Commercial Manager, the main purpose of this role will be to take ownership of the commercial management of key contracts.
This is a hands-on position where you will be part of the commercial team that will help deliver the growth strategy for the business.
You will be involved in all stages from estimating and bids, through to the completion and final accounts stage of each project The Role Communicating with clients, colleagues, suppliers and sub-contractors to determine the financial needs of the project(s).
Providing support pre-contract in relation to contract terms & conditions; including risk & opportunity analysis.
Work with the client on all changes in scope, questions or clarifications regarding the work, during the bidding process.
Managing the handover of projects from pre-construction to construction team.
Managing the Contracts in line with specific conditions (NEC / Bespoke / JCT etc.)
Completion of timely Cost-To-Complete on new projects, and ensuring the management and update of same throughout the life of the project(s).
Developing and managing Cash Flow based on project plan.
Conducting pre-start meetings with supply chain, preparation and issue of Contracts for sub-contractors.
Preparation of Sub-Contractor / Supplier packages.
Management of sub-contractors from commencement, through interim application to final account.
Ensuring robust, accurate and timely CVR reporting at both project and business unit level, in line with reporting timetable.
Completing robust, accurate and timely weekly commercial reports in line with business requirements.
Completing the Application for Payment process in line with cash flow plan and contract conditions.
Managing Change Control in line with contract conditions.
Management of procurement for the project, including POs and invoice approval.
Completing project re-measurement including the capture and evaluation of project variations.
Compilation of claims / significant variations and progressing these to resolution.
Compiling the final account on projects and negotiating these to agreement The Person Possesses the ability to build strong and collaborative relationships with both internal and external clients and supplier counterparts.
Able to manage project budgets including P&L,and providing regular commercial forecasts Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to use your own initiative as well as work collaboratively in a team.
Proven track record of effectively managing commercial activities at both contract and tender stages.
Ability to work with multiple teams at any one time.
Understanding of the full project life cycle, from ownership to completion Ability to track delivery against contracted scope of works.
Experience with NEC and JCT contracts and their workings.
A technical or commercial degree is preferable, but not essential.
Demonstrable experience in a similar role with the aforementioned responsibilities.
The use of productivity and collaboration software such as Microsoft Office,Microsoft Teams and SharePoint etc, across multiple platforms such as smart phones, tablets and laptops.
