The role will have the expertise and provide management support to achieve and maintain the highest possible standards of food safety, quality and legality within the roastery and distribution warehouse.
It is a hands-on role that will assist the Coffee Programme Team in the day to day running of the department.
Key Accountabilities Manage the food safety and quality management system at the Roastery in Meltham Ensure compliance with food safety, certifications, legal and best practice requirements at Meltham site Completion of customer quality and technical documentation, and maintenance of technical systems Ensure all products are manufactured in line with good manufacturing practices and food safety legislation Identify the root cause of non-conforming product, processes and procedures and implement the necessary corrective/preventative actions.
Create and maintain up to date specifications for manufactured goods Working with the Coffee Program Manager to monitor and maintain the technical and quality aspects of the blends and roast profiles within the Roastery.
Support QAC in maintaining specifications for all raw materials, packaging, and bought in finished goods.
Ensure all internal and external audits are completed at the required frequency with the necessary corrective and preventative actions taken.
Support the business on external audits outside of quality function (e.g.
SMETA, Carbon Mapping) Approval of artworks with the Technical Manager, ensuring they are fit for purpose, and all production requirements are considered.
Manage FT, Organic, RFA, customer approvals Support the business in the implementation of the Gold Standard, with focus on packaging, production, and raw materials Provide direction, support and on-the-job/ internal training to production operatives and site teams on quality, food safety and hygiene when required.
Preparation of reports as required Provide quarterly feedback on supplier non conformances, and any reoccurring product issues Person Specification Degree in a scientific or technical discipline Minimum of 3 years technical experience in industry or retail, including HACCP L3 Qualification Recent working experience of BRC and HACCP standards and food, packaging and waste legislation Experience with UK retailers and foodservice specifications systems Desire to work in an ethical trading environment Auditing experience Desirable Hot beverage industry experience Recent working knowledge of Fairtrade and Soil Association standards Experience of working with international supply chains JBRP1_UKTJ
