Quality, Health, Safety and Environment Manager - (QHS&E Manager) Permanent position Location: Earl's Colne, Colchester, Essex - Own transport recommended due to location Salary: £45,000, plus excellent benefits Established busy sub-contract Electro-Mechanical Manufacturing Facility based in Essex is looking to recruit a QHS&E Manager to oversee all aspects of quality, health, safety, environmental, and facility management functions at the Essex site.
The role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies, promotes a culture of safety and environmental responsibility, and drives continuous improvement in QHS&E performance.
Key Responsibilities: Approve first-off article inspection reports.
Manage supplier evaluations and assessments.
Develop, update, and maintain company QHS&E procedures.
Investigate and resolve supplier and internal non-conformities efficiently.
Handle customer complaints, ensuring all stakeholders are informed and involved.
Oversee the annual QHS&E schedule and conduct internal audits.
Prepare and present the annual management review.
Host third-party audits, including those for hazardous areas, quality, environmental, and health & safety.
Maintain and update company health & safety registers.
Complete and submit customer questionnaires.
Review and ensure compliance with environmental legislation and other relevant regulations.
Analyse and report on quality and environmental metrics quarterly and annually.
Coordinate external and internal calibration activities.
Promote a culture of health and safety, engaging all employees to raise awareness.
Conduct health and safety risk assessments.
Lead quality and environmental improvement initiatives across all departments.
Manage the introduction and implementation of ISO 45001.
Promote and implement Lean manufacturing techniques throughout the organisation.
Travel Requirements: Occasional travel to other facilities and suppliers as required.
Qualifications & Experience: Degree or HNC/HND in Engineering (preferably with an electronics background).
Strong ability to work cross-functionally and collaboratively.
Understanding of hazardous area quality systems and relevant industry standards.
In-depth knowledge of quality and environmental management systems.
Proven auditing skills.
Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Proactive, resourceful, and solutions-oriented.
Data-driven approach with strong analytical and decision-making skills.
Hours – 40hrs p/week - Monday to Thursday 07.30 - 16.30, Friday 07.30 - 13.30 Salary – £45,000 PA, plus excellent benefits Full job description available upon application.
