Job Description About the Role: Reporting to the Technical Manager, the Quality Assurance Manager will be responsible for maintaining and implementing the required standards for food safety, legality, and quality, ensuring daily compliance with BRC standards across operations. This role includes managing the QA department and overseeing New Product Development (NPD).
Key Responsibilities: Implement defined systems and procedures for accurate assessment, monitoring, and documentation of quality in a timely manner. Maintain and continually improve the site Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure it remains robust and fit for purpose, including internal audits, hygiene protocols, HACCP, traceability, specifications, supplier approval, work instructions, customer complaints, non-conformance management, concessions, quarantines, corrective actions, and pest control. Ensure QMS documents are maintained and accessible to relevant personnel throughout the business. Collaborate with the Technical Manager to ensure all products, both existing and new, undergo thorough risk assessments as part of the HACCP process. Ensure production runs adhere to agreed specifications. Oversee the completion of all QA daily tasks and address any non-conformance issues promptly. Report and act on non-conformance issues raised internally and by customers, including monitoring hold stock and disposals. Plan and assess QA team performance against yearly targets through regular reviews and communication. Train factory staff on BRC standards, customer requirements, and related documentation, ensuring training records are properly maintained. Monitor and investigate customer complaints, implementing corrective actions as needed. Publish monthly KPI dashboards for Senior Management, highlighting critical concerns and monitoring trends. Report daily activities and concerns to the Technical Manager. Conduct micro monitoring and reporting of issues, including ATP. Order and maintain stock levels required for all QA functions. Qualifications: Thorough knowledge of food safety legislation and labeling requirements. Previous experience in technical specification management and proficiency with ERP software. Understanding of long shelf-life products and NPD processes. Essential experience includes third-party audit experience, familiarity with BRC standards, and liaising with retailers. Degree in Food Science (or related field) and HACCP qualified. Strong people management skills with a solution-focused approach.
