Job summary This is an exciting opportunity to join The Family and Specialist Services (FASS) Division as a Quality and Patient Safety Lead.
The division includes the Breast Unit, Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Oncology, Haematology, Palliative Care, Pharmacy, Sexual Health and the Adult and Paediatric Fatigue Services, as well as Maternity and Neonates This role will directly lead on patient safety, quality and risk management within the division, by working collaboratively with the Quality and Patient Safety Lead Midwife, to develop and implement aspects of the Division's strategic governance programme that is reflective of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF).
The post holder will work closely as part of the Senior Leadership Team within the FASS Division leading the patient safety and clinical governance agenda within the division.
They will be responsible for the co-ordination of clinical governance procedures and frameworks, identifying areas for service improvement as part of continuous improvement and learning.
The post holder will line manage the FASS Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Team in the further development of robust systems and processes supporting the quality of services which underpin safer clinical practice.
Main duties of the job The role encompasses risk management, clinical audit, and clinical effectiveness programmes, supporting the delivery of national quality and safety improvement drivers.
The post holder will provide leadership, guidance, and expertise within the wider multi-professional team for the Division for clinical governance and risk management.
This will include putting in place strategies and frameworks that ensure the Division meets the Trust and National Reporting Priorities.
The patient safety function sets the strategic direction for patient safety insight, involvement and improvement.
The post holder will assist healthcare professionals across the division and Trust to deliver safer care through an understanding of the effects of teamwork, tasks, equipment, workspace, culture, and organisation on human behaviour and identify contributing factors when incidents occur and make recommendations for systemic improvements.
