Purchasing and Stores Assistant Location: Leeds, UK Salary: £14 p/h + Benefits Working Hours: Monday Thursday, 7:00-16:45 About the Role: Our client is looking for a detail-oriented Purchasing & Stores Assistant to join their team.
This role is essential in ensuring efficient procurement, receipt, inspection, and storage of materials required for production.
You will support production continuity by managing inventory levels, coordinating with suppliers, and ensuring all incoming goods meet necessary quality standards.
Additionally, you will help maintain a well-organised stores environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
This is a dynamic position that requires strong organisational skills and the ability to work collaboratively with different departments to ensure the smooth operation of the production process.
Our client has over 130 years of expertise in the fabrication and machining of large, complex, pressure-retaining assemblies across the aerospace, subsea, defence, and marine industries.
With ASME and Chinese TSG approvals, and extensive experience working with defence standards, they are ideally positioned as a global manufacturing partner for pressure-retaining equipment.
Key Responsibilities: Assist in sourcing suppliers, obtaining quotes, and placing orders for materials and components.
Track and monitor purchase orders to ensure timely delivery and resolve any supplier-related issues.
Receive, inspect, and document incoming materials to ensure they meet quality and quantity standards.
Coordinate with the Quality & Purchasing to manage non-conforming goods and handle returns or replacements.
Oversee deliveries on-site, including controlling access at the gate and guiding vehicles for safe entry and exit.
Organise and maintain the stores area, ensuring proper storage and safety of materials.
Implement inventory management systems, conduct regular stock audits, and issue materials to production as needed.
Monitor inventory levels and work with the Purchasing Manager to forecast material needs.
Manage the disposal or return of obsolete or excess stock.
Ensure all activities comply with health and safety regulations.
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
Who They're Looking For: Experience and Skills: Forklift truck license (desirable).
Overhead crane experience (desirable).
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
Proficiency in inventory management systems and ERP software.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations related to goods handling and storage.
