Description Job Description & Person Specification > We are recruiting a Public Transport Officer to our growing transport, climate, and planning team.

The work covers a wide remit, from engaging with operators and customers to develop a strong bus network that meets the needs, to setting out an aspirational and deliverable plan for the future, through to maintaining and managing the public transport network and getting the basics right, as well as overseeing other aspects of the public transport network.
This appointment comes at a time of investment in zero emission buses and new long term supported network contracts in Torbay, providing the opportunity for growth and to build on the strengths of the network.
This role will help build our capacity for the future and develop existing resources within the Public Transport Team over the 2 year fixed term.

Skills Essential: Proven ability to analyse and interpret data for presentation in a variety of formats and provide basic advice based on this.
Networking skills and ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with colleagues and key personnel within and outside the authority.
Ability to communicate with internal and external agencies using tact and diplomacy.
This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
Knowledge Essential: A full working knowledge of key public transport regulations and sources of information.
Knowledge of setting performance standards to achieve high standards and best value.
Experience & Qualifications Essential: A proven track record of public transport or sustainable transport planning/development.
