This role is offered as an 18 month fixed term contract working from Sussex Police Headquarters in Lewes and Haywards Heath Police Station, with the option for agile working. Details of working hours and locations will be agreed with the successful candidate.
This is a new role to join a team that is responsible for delivering the Public Protection Review Programme and Op Soteria within Sussex Police. As a Project Officer you will be working as a part of a small team responsible for delivering big projects. You will provide essential support to the projects, assisting and supporting the day-to-day activity within the project delivery process. The Project Officer will support the Project Managers and provide a high quality service in managing the project documentation through the project lifecycle and also be responsible for managing and delivering small-scale project work streams.
Key Responsibilities :
To provide essential support to projects, working to the Project Managers to deliver a new operating model for Public Protection within Sussex Police. Assisting and supporting the day-to-day activities within the projects, including the production of project management documents throughout the project lifecycles. Identifying, tracking and escalating risks, assisting with dependency management and supporting the Project Managers. The Project Officer will gather, record and analyse data in order to identify solutions to problems relating to delivery of project objectives. Responsible for managing and delivering both small scale projects and workstreams within the projects, on time, within budget and to specification. Skills & Experience We are looking for someone with experience of project working, including proven experience in risk management, ideally within a policing environment. You will have a keen eye for detail, and be able to develop project plans, self-managing your time and that of the people involved in the project delivery to ensure all deadlines are met and the projects are delivered successfully. Strong organisational and communication skills are essential for this role.
Skills: Agile, Change Management, Prince2 qualification or proven experience in a PMO project management environment. MS Office Suite in addition to specialised applications such as Visio, JIRA and Project reporting applications and can demonstrate competence in using these applications. Proven ability to manage multiple activities and work on own initiative to prioritise and respond flexibly to rapidly changing demands when under pressure. Proven experience of applying project management principles and practices, including the ability to set timescales and review. Experience of analysing information and using own initiative to solve problems, making reasoned and responsible decision that consider all the relevant factors and available information.
