You should be flexible in your approach to work, able to support other officers when necessary, and have a comprehensive working knowledge of IT systems including MS Office and case management systems.
You must have post-qualification experience and be competent under the Food Law Code of Practice to inspect high-risk food businesses.
Competence in enforcement under the Health & Safety at Work Act and associated regulations is required.
A suitable qualification as listed in the Food Law Code of Practice is necessary.
Additionally, you should be able to provide, upon request, a copy of your competency framework and current appropriate CPD.
You must hold a full drivers license, own a vehicle with business insurance, and be a registered Environmental Health Practitioner.
What the Job Involves In this role, you will deliver the food hygiene and standards inspection program and investigate complaints regarding food and health & safety matters.
You will assist with various functions including health & safety at work, accident investigation, and infectious disease control.
Your responsibilities will include providing comments on licensing and planning applications, as well as event consultations.
As a regulatory role, you will carry out enforcement in line with the Council's enforcement policy, offering advice, responding to complaints, and serving notices as necessary.
You are expected to attend court and other hearings to provide evidence and lead on prosecutions.
Your work will involve managing a multi-disciplined enforcement caseload, which may require monitoring visits at unsociable hours, though not on an on-call basis.
This position is hybrid, combining home working with time at the Town Hall in Romford, along with necessary site visits.
Please kindly note that the rate is £40/hr.
