Job Title: Public Affairs Director (Energy and Infrastructure Lead) Salary c.£100k Our client is a leading public relations and public affairs consultancy, renowned for delivering impactful strategic counsel and innovative solutions.
Their multidisciplinary team works at the intersection of business, media, and government, helping clients navigate complex political landscapes.
As part of the Next 15 group, they leverage a collaborative approach across sectors to help clients achieve success.
Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Public Affairs Director with a focus on Energy and Infrastructure to lead and expand the work in these sectors.
The successful candidate will guide clients through the complexities of political, regulatory, and sectoral challenges, while playing a critical role in driving new business and maintaining service excellence within our Public Affairs team.
Key Responsibilities: Sector Leadership: Drive the growth of the energy and infrastructure specialism, building on the already established reputation and expanding client portfolios.
Client Management: Deliver first-rate strategic counsel to clients, particularly in the energy and infrastructure sectors, ensuring high-quality service and meeting business objectives.
Business Development: Proactively generate and convert new business opportunities through active networking and compelling proposals.
Support the wider Public Affairs team's new business efforts.
Network Utilization: Leverage an extensive political, policy, and regulatory network, offering clients valuable insights on developments, particularly from key stakeholders within the Labour government.
Thought Leadership: Develop intellectual property, consulting tools, and thought leadership to enhance consultancy delivery and marketing, with a focus on energy and infrastructure.
Team Leadership: Play a leadership role within the Public Affairs team, fostering talent development, managing people, and driving commercial success.
Ambassadorship: Act as a public ambassador promoting public affairs expertise across the industry, within the Next 15 group, and in the energy and infrastructure sectors.
Person Specification: Sector Expertise: Proven experience in the energy and infrastructure sectors, gained through consultancy, in-house roles, politics, the civil service, or think tanks.
Client Leadership: A trusted advisor who can guide clients through public affairs challenges with an integrated, modern approach.
Commercially Driven: Strong track record in business development and commercial delivery, with the confidence and connections to grow a specialist offer.
Political Connectivity: Established relationships with political, civil service, and parliamentary stakeholders, with Labour party connections would be a strong asset.
Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated ability to engage with complex policy issues and develop creative public affairs strategies for clients.
Team Player: Willingness to actively engage in team activities, supporting and mentoring junior members to ensure overall success.
Strong Communicator: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage a wide range of audiences.
