Job summary This is an exciting opportunity to take up a dynamic role within LDCAMHS in the Durham and Darlington community.
You will be joining an enthusiastic and dynamic team, composed of different professionals including nursing, support workers, psychiatry, speech and language and occupational therapy.
We have strong links with the IPBS Team and the Holly Unit, as well as our colleagues in generic CAMHS.
There is a great emphasis on team working and supporting our collective wellbeing.
You will also benefit from the wealth of experience from the other established staff members in the team.
Main duties of the job As a psychologist, you will be supported to develop professionally through opportunities for further training and effective supervision.
The role is both varied and interesting, drawing upon a wide range of skills and experiences.
It allows you to develop your therapeutic creativity in engaging with a diverse population of children and young people.
You will have the opportunity to work systemically with families and our partner agencies.
This is also a developmental opportunity for newly qualified psychologists, and you will be supported with a clear plan of how you will achieve all the developmental targets you need to progress in this role.
There are also opportunities to pursue interests in research, audit, governance issues and leadership.
You will have the opportunity to supervise other members of staff.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Degree in psychology.
Eligible for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society Numeracy, Literacy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent) Desirable Post graduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis.
Skills Essential Ability to communicate information (verbal and written) effectively in a manner appropriate to the individual and situation Competence in using psychometric assessment tools (within agreed timescale) Methodical and accurate approach to data collection and analysis.
Record Keeping (within agreed timescale) Experience Desirable Experience as a psychology assistant (paid or voluntary) Experience working with people with mental ill health or learning disabilities (paid or voluntary).
Experience of clinical audit, research or service evaluation.
Knowledge Essential An understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with mental ill health or learning disabilities.
An awareness of the application of psychology to health care.
Understanding of confidentiality.
