Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Psychological Therapist to join our friendly and diverse Children and Young People Services (CYPS) Durham and Darlington Eating Disorder Team.The successful applicants will be enthusiastic, motivated, and demonstrate a commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.We cover areas of Darlington and Durham so have 2 bases; The Acley Centre and North End House.
The successful candidate would be expected to work across both bases.
Main duties of the job Carries own caseload, providing specialist psychological therapy in own field to clients within the team and where necessary, across the locality.
Clients present with an eating disorder or eating difficulties but may also have a broad range of presentations including a significant proportion of complex cases.
Provides specialist psychological assessment of clients with an eating disorder and other mental health conditions based on the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of data from a variety of sources to establish suitability for a particular psychological therapy and recommending alternative treatment or interventions as appropriate.
Responsible for recognising the potential for or signs of client harm, abuse or neglect, including poor clinical practice, reporting all such concerns and taking all reasonable steps to protect the client.
Responsible for identifying and reporting concerns regarding the safeguarding of others who may be at risk.
Undertakes risk assessment and risk management for individual clients.
Formulates plans for specialist psychological therapy in own field based on an appropriate conceptual framework and evidence-based practice.
Collaborates on the development and the implementation of such plans with clients and significant others as appropriate Implements specialist psychological therapy in own field for individual clients,carers, families and groups, adjusting and refining psychological formulations as required.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential A qualification that leads to registration with a professional regulatory body (HCPC, GMC, NMC or Social Work England) AND current registration with this professional regulatory body.
(If a different regulatory body please seek advice from Head of Psychological Professions) A qualification that provides eligibility to apply for accreditation in one of the four Governed Psychological Therapies outlined in the table below* Evidence of continuing professional development Experience Essential Working with people with severe and enduring mental health problem Delivering psychological therapy in own field Working in multi-disciplinary team settings Delivering clinical supervision Delivering staff training Desirable Experience of psychological therapy provision in complex cases Knowledge Essential Evidence- based practice relevant to the role Risk assessment and risk management Legislation in relation to the client group and mental health.
Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and undertake care co-ordination / lead professional responsibilities Undertake multiagency working and liaise with multiple system Utilise objective measures competently
