GENERAL SUMMARY Celeros Flow Technology ClydeUnion Pumps has a proud history of supplying pumps to its Defence Clients for over 100 years.
As a Project Manager in the Defence team you will be responsible for continuing that long tradition to support the British Navy with the supply and maintenance of pumps, spare parts and overhauls as required.
Following the creation of a Defence specific Project team we have requirement to expand the current team to continue our growth in the Defence market.
The main focus of the Role will be to build on our good relationships with the "Prime" contractors supplying our equipment into the Submarine Defence Agency (SDA).
We want to build on our current good reputation within the Defence market by delivering our critical components to the highest standards and honouring our delivery commitments to our clients.
The successful candidate will be working on projects that directly support one of the cornerstones of our national security.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS) You will run the project from receipt of Purchase Order from the client through various phases beyond the point of delivery and support these prime Defence clients during their boat builds.
During this time, you will be the customer's main point of contact for the majority of communication on the project.
Internally you will be the figurehead of the project and will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of cost and schedule and managing risks and realising opportunities in both these areas.
You will be required to manage the project in such a way that it fulfils contractual and technical requirements, meets or exceeds customer expectations, and adheres to safety and ethical standards while achieving target margins and promoting Celeros Flow Technology's reputation in the marketplace.
Ideally, we are looking for individuals who have prior experience successfully managing multi-million-pound projects or contracts within a heavy engineering manufacturing environment.
The majority of our work is based on a fixed cost basis for external clients so previous experience in managing budgets and solid basis in contractual understanding would be a bonus.
Engineering experience, experience in the Industrial or Power & Energy markets is desirable but not essential.
Good knowledge of budgets, scheduling, risk management, customer facing experience will be an advantage in this role.
Experience of working for or supplying to "Prime" Defence suppliers or the SDA would be advantageous for this role.

Risk & Schedule skills Critical Path Analysis : Analyse and manage project schedules to ensure that critical path activities are given priority, mitigating potential risks and identifying opportunities to optimise project timelines and outcomes.
Project Planning : Develop comprehensive project plans for both ongoing and upcoming projects, ensuring alignment with project goals, timelines, resources, and stakeholder expectations.
Accurate Forecasting : Ensure accurate forecasting of project milestone invoice dates, taking into account project timelines, deliverables, and potential risks or delays to maintain financial and operational accuracy.
IT skills Proficient in Key Software : Strong competency in Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with the ability to efficiently create, manage, and present project data and reports.
SAP MRP System (Optional) : Familiarity with or basic working knowledge of the SAP MRP system, which would be an advantageous skill for streamlining project and resource management, though not essential.
Financial skills Cost Forecast Review : Conduct monthly cost reviews to compare project cost forecasts with the initial budget, ensuring an accurate forecast of the final margin and identifying any discrepancies early.
Variance Analysis : Analyse cost deviations from the initial budget, providing clear explanations for any variances and taking corrective actions when necessary.
Cash Flow Management : Monitor and manage project cash flow to ensure alignment with the pre-contract cash flow plan, maintaining a positive cash position throughout the project lifecycle.
Contract Management Variation Identification & Negotiation : Proactively identify opportunities for variations during project execution and negotiate them to achieve the best possible outcomes for the business.
Contractual Knowledge : Demonstrate a strong understanding of contractual language, terms, and conditions to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
Contract Compliance : Review project contracts to ensure that deliverables meet the stipulated contract requirements, taking necessary actions to address any discrepancies or issues.
Change Order Management Client Change Order Negotiation : Identify and negotiate client change orders and variations, ensuring that both financial and schedule benefits are maximised for the business.
Risk Mitigation : Proactively identify and minimise contract risks throughout project execution, taking appropriate actions to protect the project's scope, timeline, and budget.
