Primarily based at the Bradford site with the flexibility to support Glasgow as required.To coordinate a defined sub sector of the Engineering function to help the business achieve optimal operational efficiency at lowest cost through the delivery of targets against the strategic objectives of the function: SafetyQualityCostDeliveryPeopleTo work closely with the Group Project Manager and equivalent grades in other departments to support the delivery of the agreed manufacturing vision and strategy.To lead and manage engineering projects from concept, to help the business deliver current and future volume requirements, ensuring maximum efficiency throughout all manufacturing processes.Dimensions This role is principally site based, with a requirement to support up to 1 site.Travel to OEM and Princes sites for project review's / meetings.Capital budget of circa £4 million dependent on sector and plans as part of Princes overall budget.Delivering Capital projects typically from £25k up to £1M in value.Review and guidance on minor capital papers as required from designated site based Engineers.
Key Relationships Responsible to the Grade 4 Group Project Manager Working across a number of departments with a number of peers Critical interfaces Site based – Engineering, Manufacturing, Technical/Quality and safety – All at various levels.Group based – Group Engineering, Legal managers, IT Managers, Finance, Sales and Marketing – All at various levels.
Key Responsibilities The role is responsible for the implementation and delivery of in year projects typically above £25k in value and up to £1M.Working with Site teams to support and guide them in their application and execution of the Continuous improvement capital.
That which is typically under £25k in value, referred to as Minor.
Working with site engineering and production teams to manage the implementation of capital projects from initial concept, Capex paper creation through to successful conclusion and sign-off, including: Preparation and enabling work.Installation and commissioning.Training and performance trials.
Development of technical designs and specifications providing technical support for site engineering and production teamsWorking in partnership with purchasing in the management of the procurement process and liaison with contractors and suppliers to negotiate best value for money.Ensure accurate and regular progress updates are provided to the senior manager.
Develop a culture of ownership within the team for the on-going development of the facilities.
Evoke a proactive approach to change and improvements in the performance of the sites.To set the engineering standards etc.
within Group Supply operations routinely, ensuring that substandard performance is identified and remedied.Close liaison with other functions within the Group to ensure that Group Supply are abreast of developments and issues which are relevant to and may impact on the function.
Development of designs, technical specifications and layout drawings for the procurement of process and production equipment including:Evaluation of tender submissionsDirectly manage or manage through others on-site contractors and in-house resource, providing clear direction to ensure projects are carried out to best practise, current legislation and strict health and safety guidelines.Raise capital purchase orders and authorise the payment of invoices through SAP, ensuring that project costs are managed within agreed budgets.Using self and others to develop and maintain process drawings and site layout plans.Issues monthly reports detailing the progress against budget of cost, schedule and performance for live capital projects.To maintain product Food Safety, Legality, Integrity, Authenticity and Quality standards by ensuring all associated policies and procedures are adhered to.
Role RequirementsExperience Required Graduate or of graduate caliber, hands-on experience of project engineering and capital investment with a demonstrable track record of success.Strong operational grounding within a complex fast moving manufacturing environment.Operated within and familiar with implementation of the principles of World Class Manufacturing environments / Continuous Improvement methodologiesGood leadership in the planning and implementation of capital investment in production facilitiesExperience of delivering results against financial targets, service levels and safety standardsGood knowledge of established manufacturing processes, with awareness of developing technologies and techniques.Working knowledge of operating systems such as SAP, AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
Good understanding of project managements systems.Good understanding of CDM regulations and current health and safety legislation.Good practical understanding of factory services (electricity, steam, compressed air, water etc.
)Key Behavioural Indicators: Able to quickly establish good working relationships both internally and externally.
Able to leverage this to inspire others to identify and own change.
