This project is funded by the Department for Communities, and represents a paradigm shift for d/Deaf Studies and Sign Language Interpreter training in Northern Ireland.
The project involves delivery of a range of interrelated strands: Management of the MA in Interpreting (BSL and/or ISL), which began in September 2024.
Ensuring the logistical and academic integration into the overall project of the associated doctoral research programme, that began in November 2024.
Ensuring the logistical and academic integration into the overall project of the associated postdoctoral research programme, due to begin in January 2025.
Contributing to the design of research projects, such as the current North-South call.
Ensuring all necessary adjustments for d/Deaf and d/Deaf-blind students and project participants are identified and solutions sourced.
Dissemination activities through the Sign Language Network.
Reporting to the Director of the Centre for Translation and Interpreting, the Project Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of these various strands, as well as establishing and monitoring strategic relationships with the d/Deaf community and other stakeholders, such as the Department for Communities and other relevant charitable organisations.
The post is fixed term available for 21 months, with the possibility of renewal for a further 24 months.
About the person: ESSENTIAL CRITERIA: Relevant academic/vocational qualifications (e.g.
A-Levels, NVQ 3 or equivalent).
At least 3 years recent relevant experience with the local d/Deaf community and a high level of understandingof current issues in d/Deaf Studies.
At least three years experience of work as a Sign Language interpreter.
Experience of building and managing relationships in a collaborative context with a range of internal/externalstakeholders.
Ability to work with the technology required to facilitate remote interpreting, transcription and translation,both in meetings and public events.
Evidence of managing events/ workshops.

Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
