Job Introduction Serco, a prominent player in the Space industry with over 50 years of experience, has a robust partnership with the European Space Agency (ESA), particularly through our work at the European Centre for Space Applications and Telecommunications (ECSAT) in Harwell, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom.
ESA-ECSAT serves as ESA's hub for telecommunications and integrated applications, supporting the development and commercialization of innovative space-based solutions.
On behalf of our client, the European Space Agency, we are looking for a skilled Programme/Project Controller to join our team distributed over the ESA-ECSAT site, in Harwell, UK.
Main Responsibilities Support managers with project costs, schedules, risks, and administrative tasks.
Oversee procurement processes from tendering to contract closure.
Monitor project status, identify issues and suggest recovery actions.
Prepare management reports and dashboards to highlight progress and actions.
Assist with contract negotiations and provide key inputs for decision-making.
Maintain project plans, cost breakdowns, schedules and documentation.
Track and forecast project progress, ensuring compliance with budgets and regulations.
Support risk management, propose mitigation actions and maintain risk registers.
Provide input for reports, including KPIs on cost, scheduling and risks.
Improve project control processes, including digitalization efforts.
Share knowledge and advise on best practices within the team.
Successful Candidate A Master's degree in engineering, business administration, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Relevant experience in controlling or managing activities and resources in the aerospace industry.
For certain tasks, knowledge of finance or accounting may be required.
Proficiency in MS Office, particularly advanced Excel skills.
Experience with SAP (ECC and SRM modules) and familiarity with ESA corporate applications like ESA-p is an asset.
Ability to quickly understand and adapt to ESA-specific environments and tools.
Previous experience with ESA activities is considered an advantage.
Significant interaction with key stakeholders inside ESA, such as Finance and Procurement, as well as external industrial partners.
Fluent in English (written and spoken) Knowledge of another EU member state language is an asset.
