Production Manager

Overall job purpose: Responsible for the management of the production department, Llansamlet site wide.
Management of production area and all day-to-day production activities on site.
An efficient, clean, and safe production environment, delivering the highest quality standards to our customers.
Efficiently utilising all resources to maximise production output, meet company H&S requirements, service level, quality, and cost targets.
To continuously improve the production department to meet expectations of a high-quality manufacturer.
  Key Responsibilities:         Ensure Health and safety requirements and targets are met Identify and implement continuous improvement projects in the production environment by measuring, analysing and improving systems & processes.
Identify training needs, develop, and appraise team to meet succession plan.
Responsible for all HR requirements within the production department.
Utilise LEAN skills and experience to improve processes and support LEAN activities on site.
Ensuring that improvements to product / process are documented and aligned with ISO and GMP requirements.
Work as part of the site management team, fostering close collaboration with Engineering, Quality and HR departments Report on weekly and monthly KPI metrics to Senior Management.
Monitor production objectives and compile action plans to achieve targets.
Support customer visits and audits on-site Implement preventative actions to improve both process and product quality.
Manage the production process to deliver the weekly production schedule.
Ensure all production works orders are closed on SAP within the defined parameters Identify cost and efficiency improvements, plan and execute.
Ensure the production department is cost effective and meets all cost targets.
Ensure all products are manufactured to the correct Quality standard, right first time.
Manage budgets for all consumables used in production on a daily basis.
Ensure the Production department meets all quality procedures and perform all tasks to meet our Quality Management System.
Support Product Development requirements and trials on site.
Manage the holiday and absence for the production dept.
Organising and ensuring accurate and periodic cycle counts and stock takes working closely with the Warehouse Dept.
Carry out any reasonable requests that are required to achieve the overall purpose of the job.
To comply with the terms and conditions of employment operating throughout the Company.

The post holder is expected to carry out any reasonable request as deemed appropriate by their Line Manager to support business needs.
Specific responsibilities and authorities are defined in procedures relevant to the role.
                                                Qualifications and Training: Essential Experience of managing production department in a fast paced and complex environment Dynamic Decision Maker, Effective Planner, Problem Solver and Communicator.
       Knowledge and understanding of GMP standards within area of operation.
       Continuous Improvement activity - proven experience in the use of and deployment of Lean tools and techniques or Lean Six Sigma accreditation.
       Competent in use of computer systems/programs Desirable Relevant higher education qualification e.g., Degree, Higher National Certificate / Diploma Managerial experience at a Senior Level     Experience: Essential A minimum of 5 years' relevant managerial experience Development of Lean culture and learning environment Experience of training/developing staff Strong people management skills with the ability to make decisions, use initiative, implement, and ensure compliance with company policies & procedures.
PC literate within a Microsoft windows environment.
Customer focused.
High level of honesty and integrity Desirable        Experience of working in an Electronic Assembly Operation / Medical Devices        Working knowledge of SAP    Other attributes: Ability to show initiative in solving problems and identifying improvements.
Ability to work accurately and methodically.
Knowledge of Production Procedures & requirements Good writing and computer skills required for keeping accurate records, writing reports and standard operating procedures.
Ability to work under pressure, on own initiative and part of a team.
