Job Title: Production Engineer Location: Colchester The Role: So, what will you be doing as a Production Engineer?
Technical Collaboration: Work with manufacturing and supply teams to address technical issues, resolve root causes, and implement corrective actions.
Product Investigation: Document and report faults in customer-owned products.
Production Support: Provide technical guidance throughout production to ensure high standards and quality.
Continuous Improvement: Identify cost and efficiency improvements in manufacturing processes.
Process Development: Lead the analysis and optimization of manufacturing processes and production flexibility.
Documentation & SOPs: Create and update SOPs, configuration control documents, and standard times.
Risk & Quality Management: Conduct FMEAs, risk assessments, and manage actions for process improvements.
DFM & DFA Compliance: Ensure new and existing designs meet manufacturability standards.
NPI Management: Oversee activities through the New Product Introduction phase in coordination with engineering teams.
Change Control: Plan and implement process and part changes from concept through production.
Pre-Production & Bid Support: Assist in pre-production and provide technical data for customer bids, supporting a culture of safety and quality.
What are we looking for in our next Production Engineer?
Proven experience in engineering roles supporting electronics manufacturing.
Minimum of 5 years in electronics testing and manufacturing engineering.
Familiarity with mechanical manufacturing principles, such as DFM and DFA.
Solid understanding of electrical and mechanical assembly, manufacturing, and testing processes.
Skilled in creating clear reports and delivering effective presentations.
Independent thinker who works well in cross-functional teams under tight deadlines.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of electronics, including component-level fault finding.
Familiarity with electrical and RF testing techniques is a plus.
Understanding of high-voltage electronics and encapsulation processes.
Experience with problem-solving methods (e.g., 8D, A3, Root Cause Analysis).
Proficient in Statistical Process Control (SPC) data analysis and calculations.
