About Us
The Social Security Programme Directorate has been created to design and implement devolved benefits for Scotland, enabling the delivery of 16.5 million payments per year, to an estimated two million people.
This vacancy sits within the Programme Management and Delivery Division and will support our various teams within the programme.
Working with the latest tools, technologies and methodologies we aim to develop user-centred system, services and processes that build capability and enable the delivery of devolved benefits in Scotland.
About the role
This post plays a key role in ensuring successful product delivery in an Agile project management framework.
A Product Lead is responsible for the quality of their products.
They are expected to use their knowledge of user needs and business goals to frame problems and set priorities for their delivery teams.

Responsibilities
A Product Lead defines, owns and solve problems.
At this level, you will:
• Be responsible for managing day to day product planning and delivery on behalf of Senior Product Managers, across a range of social security welfare benefit projects or support services and platforms.
• Understand the relationship between your specific product and the overall delivery of the product or process.
• Support the development and deliver functionality for which you are responsible to meet the needs of users, managers and stakeholders.
• Create effective, prioritised product descriptions and delivery plans to meet user needs in a cost effective way.
• Interpret user research in order to make the correct product decisions.
• Uses product management principles and approaches.
• Understand the relationship between your specific product and overall delivery of that product and any wider systems and processes.
• Communicate credibly with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
• Support the management of an allocated budget.
Additional Duties of this role:
· Managing a product through discovery, alpha, beta and live states.
· Support lead and senior product managers.
· Line management of associate product managers and support their professional development.
· Developing expert skills in and knowledge of product management techniques.
· May be involved in recruitment.
Essential Digital Data and Technology (DDaT) knowledge:
1. You will have a proven track record of working and delivering in a fast-paced environment.
Being able to understand and identify the appropriate solutions.
2. Demonstrable experience of creating and maintaining excellent relationships with key stakeholders and working collaboratively with them to deliver successful outcomes.
3. Able to collate, organise, analyse and use information to plan and deliver services, products and technology improvements.
Within this experience of presenting complex information, in writing and verbally, to staff and senior leaders.
4. Be experienced in working on complex projects with fixed and challenging delivery dates.
An understanding of agile methodology and how to apply this.
