Problem Solving Tactical Advisor Location: Bedworth Permanent Contract Full Time Salary £38,754.00 - £40,893.00   The closing date for this post is 12 midday on Wednesday 13th November 2024.
Those currently eligible on the redeployment register will be given prior consideration.
To co-ordinate, manage and deliver problem solving to the Force.
Ensuring that problem solving is connected to Preventative policing and that there is a clear link and supportive provision to operational policing.
To ensure that performance is monitored and reported on and mechanisms are in place to record best practice and lessons learnt.
Enable communication pathways using technology and innovation.
Build contacts from outside of force and work with other agencies to build opportunities.
Provide Policing Area Command Teams with support, guidance and briefings that enable effective tasking of resources.
Supervise a small team of  Police Staff problem solving co-ordinators and administration, providing day-to-day line management   Main Responsibilities:   To oversee and manage Problem Solving and Crime Prevention in the county, represent Warwickshire Police at partner agency meetings offering tactical guidance and advice.
Manage delivery of the National Crime Prevention Strategy in line with the Prevention Strategy of Warwickshire Police and represent senior officers and partners at a strategic level in matters relating to Problem Solving and Prevention.
Hold the problem solving portfolio as part of the Neighbourhood Policing Guidelines   Work closely with partners and stakeholders and identify points of contact within District and Borough Councils to ensure professional ownership of problem solving and prevention and ensuring proportionate actions are taken within the parameters of legislation   Maintain auditable records and data to quantify the changes in problem solving and benefits of crime reduction activities and inform force reporting on performance.
Maintain an in-depth knowledge of problem solving and prevention techniques keeping track of national changes and best practice.
Review force policy and procedures to ensure they are effective and operating within national guidelines   To deliver presentations, briefings and education within the force and to partners for Problem Solving and Prevention including the use of problem solving tools, crime prevention processes and procedures, and lessons learned; to promote the adoption of best practices and innovation   Work with Operational leads and Problem Solving Co-ordinators to identify opportunities of utilising resources across agencies and departments.
Identify level of risks and advise on appropriate action in order to help provide an effective policing response   To respond and deal with any concerns raised around problem solving and prevention.
Prepare written replies and reports around problem solving and prevention matters on behalf of the Chief Constable   Provide tactical advice to senior meetings and staff to enable effective responses where crime trends, community problems and safeguarding issues are emerging.
Provide support, advice and direction to command teams   To represent Warwickshire Police at external meetings, conferences and events to present and explain relevant crime prevention initiatives and to identify information from other organisations that may contribute to force effectiveness in preventing crime.
Participate on behalf of Warwickshire Police in consultation processes with government and third party agencies   To develop relationships and networks that maximise opportunities to resolve emerging risks and trends and work alongside external organisations to coordinate a multi-agency response.
Chair a Problem Solving and Prevention Governance Group   Ensure problem solving and prevention implementation is delivered through relevant planning and action plans are up to date.
Drive the culture change around problem solving and prevention across the county.
Assist in the development of community profiles which deliver key information around harm causes in Warwickshire communities   Act as a point of contact between Warwickshire Police and community groups engaged in problem solving processes in conjunction with local policing teams.
Improve methods of engagement and access to knowledge for communities, partners and stakeholders for Problem Solving and Prevention   To undertake other duties commensurate with the nature, level of responsibility and grading of this post, as required       Knowledge:   Educated to A level/ NVQ level 3, or equivalent work experience Thorough understanding of the practical application of the Scanning, Assessment, Response and Evaluation (SARA) methodology.
Understanding of the National Crime Prevention Strategy and the Crime and Disorder act 1998.
A working knowledge of statistical formulae and the presentation of data in tabular and graphical format.
Experience:   Experience of researching and analysing information from a range of sources to identify trends.
Experience of presenting data in clear and concise reports.
Experience of using problem solving methodologies.
Key Skills:   Excellent IT skills including the use of standard IT packages, systems and/or databases.
Able to manage time and prioritise work in order to meet deadlines.
Able to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms, to influence others and set out logical arguments clearly, adapting language, form and message to meet the needs of different audiences.
Able to breakdown a straightforward problem into component parts and determine appropriate action.
Able to interpret and apply guidance to a specific activity.
Able to produce concise reports or other documents.
Able to use resources efficiently and identify potential opportunities to enhance efficiency and/or effectiveness within own area of work.
Special Conditions   The duties of this post involve exposure to information that describes violent crime or behaviour.
