Permanent role with a Local Authority Job Summary: The Building Control Team delivers CBCs Building Control and Building Regulation duties and is responsible for Regulation and Compliance through advice and enforcement at scheme appraisal and determination and site inspection during the construction phase.
Key Regulatory areas covered are health safety sustainability energy and accessibility.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample): Provide expert specialist Building Regulation compliance advice to users.
Investigate and enforce compliance matters and complaints.
Collect and maintain accurate Building Regulation and Building Control records.
Validation of applications and assessment of fees.
Plan assessment and site inspection: regulatory advice compliance checking and site inspection.
Deal with Building Regulation application cases throughout plan and implementation stages.
Deal with complex Building Regulation cases throughout advice plan implementation and enforcement stages.
Support and guidance of less experienced colleagues.
Prioritisation of tasks within the team* and service delivery as part of that team.
Skills/Experience: Applicants should be able to demonstrate an understanding of Building Control processes and experience working in a building control service.
The work involves managing a range of building control duties to deal with varied projects in urban and rural locations around the Council area.
This role will work closely with colleagues team members our regulatory partners and our applicants and deals with regulatory compliance enforcement and all aspects of Building Regulations.
You will have strong communication skills and can show experience and evidence of working on a range of projects.
Additional Information: Central Bedfordshire Council are currently seeking to recruit a BSR registered and experienced Class 2 F Building Control Inspector to evaluate applications and fees carry out plan checking site inspections provide special Building Regulatory advice and investigate and enforce compliance.
You will have a degree (or equivalent qualification and experience) in Building Control Surveying and be eligible for BSR registration as a Class 2 building inspector.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate an understanding of Building Control processes and experience working in a building control service.
