Job overviewKing's Renal Unit is a busy tertiary referral centre, renowned for its high standards.
The unit provides:
specialist inpatient care to patients with acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease and end stage renal failureoutpatient care, plasma exchange, haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis servicesThe successful candidate will lead the renal pharmacy service including both inpatient and outpatient care at the Denmark Hill site and will be responsible for onsite and satellite dialysis units, situated across South East London.
This post will offer the opportunity to gain significant experience in service development to ensure that renal therapies are prescribed safely and medicines optimisation opportunities are realised.
The post holder will play an active role in developing and monitoring treatment pathways with colleagues across South East London.
Candidates must have excellent interpersonal, communication, organisational and leadership skills.
They will need to be highly motivated and be able to demonstrate initiative and enthusiasm to develop the renal pharmacy service while providing high quality, evidence-based, clinically led care to patients while improving processes for managing patients on long-term therapies.
Previous experience of renal medicine is essential.
The role is based within the Pharmacy department at the Denmark Hill site but the post-holder will be expected to attend the satellite dialysis units located across South East London.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder leads, delivers, develops, manages and evaluates the clinical pharmacy services to the Renal Care Group.
The focus of the post is on ensuring the provision of high quality, safe, comprehensive (clinical, supply, financial and operational) pharmaceutical services to the care group.
The post holder is expected to:
