About the Opportunity We are recruiting for a Principal or Senior Radiation Consultant to join our Advanced Reactors business.
As the demand for our expertise continues to grow, an opportunity has arisen to work in the area of radiation physics, based in our Birchwood office to provide technical leadership as a principal or senior consultant in a number of UK and international nuclear projects.
The role will include, but not be limited to overseeing radiation transport and inventory calculations, shielding design, criticality safety, reactor physics, and radiation protection.
You will be responsible for providing consultancy and leadership on cutting-edge issues and be able to represent, interact with, and lead international experts on current project challenges, where needed.
You will be a key part of our team, supporting and leading a wide range of consultancy projects, small and large, for a variety of customers across the nuclear industry, including new build projects, SMR and AMRs, existing civil and defence plant, fusion reactor design, and decommissioning.
Key Responsibilities include: Advising on and developing advanced computer-based models, including radiation models Overseeing as well as performing complex calculations, including for shielding and criticality and other applications Assessment of handling, movement, and transportation of radioactive materials Providing technical leadership and guidance in the assessment of complex problems and developing associated solutions Production of high-quality, complex, technical documents Establishing and maintaining client relationships, developing new opportunities for yourself and the team Essential Degree in any relevant numerate scientific or engineering discipline Extensive experience with an established reputation in the nuclear industry, including radiation physics and radiation transport modelling, with experience of shielding and/or criticality applications.
The ability to write well-structured reports that present clear arguments with a sound basis for recommendations.
Track record in building strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
Desirable Higher degree in relevant discipline (Masters / PhD) Established, internationally recognised, expertise in relevant technical fields.
Experience in programming, digital design/analysis, and simulation.
