Principal Flood Risk Consultant (Team Leader)

Job Description We are looking for a Principal Flood Risk Consultant to join our growing Water Environment team, in the Regulations and Development sector. As a Principal Flood Risk Consultant you will lead the production of flood risk consenting related documents for our major clients, and manage a small but growing team in the Croydon office.
Role responsibilities: Contribute to tenders for complex, high-profile projects and lead the production of flood risk assessments, permits, Section 19 reports, and water resource chapters for EIAs.
Collaborate with clients and technical teams on fluvial, coastal, surface water, and drainage flood risk management projects.
Build relationships with clients and cross-functional teams.
Lead flood risk appraisals and business cases for public and private sector clients.
Stay updated on relevant legislation and guidelines to ensure work is compliant and high quality.  Use AECOM's project management systems to deliver quality outputs on time and within budget.
Manage team resourcing, development, and performance in collaboration with the regional lead.

Qualifications Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Environmental Sciences or a related discipline.
Significant experience technically leading teams in the production of flood risk assessments and/or flood risk activity permits.
Strong track record of project management, following the principles of the NEC suite of contracts.
Experience and understanding of hydraulic modelling as an evidence base to flood risk assessments / activity permits.  FCERM appraisal and EIA experience would be beneficial, but not essential Professional chartered member of CIWEM or ICE.
