Job title: Principal Engineer - Mechanical Engineering

Salary: Circa £55,000
What you'll be doing: Taking ownership of specific Mechanical design issues and managing Integrated Combat Systems, Platform (In build & in service) stakeholders and external partners. Managing internal department stakeholders dependent on design activity. Review of Integrated combat designs and their platform interfaces providing Mechanical design feedback (Structural, Thermal & Hydraulic) in the Naval/Marine domain. Production of CS Mechanical design interface information, e.g. Interface and Installation Guidance Information. Performing Engineering calculations (Structural, Thermal & Hydraulic, Pneumatic) and generating associated test specifications and procedures to support design-proving and qualification activities. Producing Engineering Drawings in FORAN/CADS5/Viso to BS 8888. Your skills and experiences: Essential: Hydraulic/Pneumatic Systems Engineering experience. Degree or HND qualified with experience. Chartered or working towards Chartership. Desirable: Def Stan 08-107 General Requirements for the design of Electro technical and Naval Weapon Equipment. Environmental Qualification Standards Def Stan 08 - 123 & Def Stan 00-35. Submarine Materials Toxicity standard/database BR1326A (or surface ship equivalent). The Platform Physical Design Team: Part of the specialist engineering services, the Platform Physical Design and Installation Service provides a key role in physically incorporating Integrated Combat Systems Equipment onto our Royal Navy Submarine Fleet. This is a critical role in the delivery of the product to the customer and will allow you to liaise with high-level stakeholders and develop a lasting career with BAE Systems.
