Principal Consultant - Low Carbon Fuels & Chemicals (Mid-Senior Level) ERM is seeking to hire a Principal Consultant with experience in low carbon fuels and chemicals to join our Sustainable Energy Solutions (SES) team.
The role will include close working across SES's Hydrogen & Fuel Cells, Low Carbon Industry and Low Carbon Fuels & Chemicals sub-teams, covering topics from primary resources to chemical and energy products.

The role Principal Consultants help to win and lead the delivery of innovative, high impact projects.
Our focus includes all aspects of the low carbon fuels and chemicals sector, from production to end-use, including business strategy, policy, markets and technology.
Principal Consultants carry out and oversee research and quantitative analysis of diverse technologies, assess markets and regulations, and provide clients with thought leadership, insight and strategic advice.
You are expected to contribute significantly to winning work and business development activities, including identifying opportunities, preparing proposals and business networking.
Key responsibilities of this role include: Driving business development activities including identifying opportunities with clients and leading proposal development in collaboration with ERM's Partners.
Managing projects on all aspects of low carbon fuels and chemicals, including supply chain technology and economics, business models, industry supply chains and status, investor support including due diligence, sustainability, and policy support.
Overseeing the work of other consultants, including setting tasks, supporting research and analysis, coaching junior staff and reviewing and quality assuring outputs.
Acting as the primary point of contact for clients and developing excellent client relationships.
Contributing to the development and implementation of consulting market strategies, including thought leadership on the evolution of low carbon fuels and chemicals.
Line management is likely to form part of your duties, though not necessarily from day one.
There will be opportunities to develop and apply strategy, project management, business development and team leadership skills.
We are seeking candidates with the following attributes: A degree in a relevant subject, ideally at Master's level or above.
At least 8 years of relevant experience.
Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality management consultancy work and commitment to client satisfaction.
You should enjoy problem solving in a complex environment.
You must also have enthusiasm, initiative, and a manifest interest in energy and sustainability.
Specific expertise in one or more of the following areas is sought: oil and gas (refining and petrochemicals), advanced biofuels, e-fuels and recycled carbon fuels, bio-based chemicals and materials, recycled chemicals and plastics covering aspects related to technologies, markets and policy, and supply chains.
Techno-economic, supply chain and market analysis expertise is particularly valuable.

Ability to motivate and lead teams and potentially line manage individuals; experience in line management of less experienced staff is advantageous.

Clear written and spoken communication for a range of audiences including the ability to summarise complex information succinctly.
Fluent English, other languages welcome.
