Person Specification Education / Qualifications Essential Criteria Good honours degree in psychology. Eligibility for British Psychological Society Chartered status. Current HCPC Registration. Doctorate in Clinical Psychology as accredited by the BPS or completion of BPS Stage 2 Forensic Psychology (or equivalent). Desirable Criteria Further training and competency in a specific psychological model/intervention specific and relevant to the area of work and need of client group. Experience Essential Criteria Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team. Experience working with individuals presenting with complex clinical needs, who have multiple difficulties and engage in high-risk behaviours. Experience consulting with, supervising, and training healthcare and other professionals. Experience working as a senior clinician in complex multiagency settings, such as inpatient, forensic or criminal justice settings, or working within partnership arrangements. Experience working systemically. Experience of leading and contributing to the development of services. Experience of complex risk assessment in relation to high-risk behaviour both to self and others, communication of the risks to professionals involved and contributing to risk management plans. Desirable Criteria Experience of the application of therapy in different cultural contexts. Specific relevant clinical experience such as working with adolescents, families, complex trauma, risk or in secure settings. Knowledge Essential Criteria Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies in those who present with complex trauma and/or significant risk issues. High level knowledge of psychological assessment, formulation and intervention. Knowledge and skills relating to developmental psychology, attachment and trauma theories. Skills in the use of neuropsychological assessments. Knowledge of research design and methodology. Desirable Criteria Knowledge of relevant legislation, national guidance and professional systems. Training or experience with adolescents and/or adolescent offenders. Training or experience using Compassion Focused Therapy or interventions designed to work with trauma e.g., EMDR. Training or experience in implementing trauma-informed care. Training or experience in evaluating service developments and conducting research/audits. Training or experience in practicing systemically or consulting with others. Skills and Abilities Essential Criteria Ability to cope with stressful interpersonal situations including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems. Ability to contain and work with organisational stress and ability to 'hold' the stress of others. Ability to manage conflict within and between teams and agencies, working through disagreements and helping to build resolutions and a supportive work environment for all. Ability to show openness and appropriate vulnerability, and to acknowledge the impact of trauma on self and the wider organisation. A willingness to ask for help and support where needed. Skills in providing consultation, training and formulation to a range of audiences. Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively - orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professionals. Desirable Criteria Skills in engaging client groups who may not be motivated. Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management in work with young people and families. Evidence of consultation skills. Other Requirements Essential Criteria Ability to travel between sites, to meetings relevant to the role, or to support assessments or transitions into the community. Ability to prioritise, work independently and use their own initiative, including when under pressure. Be flexible and creative with a preparedness to be innovative. Ability to be reliable, cooperative and consistent, both as an independent clinician and in team settings.
