Principal Category Manager

We are looking for a Principal Category Manager to lead the development, implementation, and execution of the Category Strategy.
In this pivotal role, you will drive cost-effective category solutions and innovative business models.
With a keen focus on business intelligence, benchmarking, and supplier market analysis, you will gather invaluable insights to support category development.
You will be responsible for securing and tracking cost reductions, overseeing contract management, and ensuring continuity within the Supply Chain.
Your expertise will be instrumental in preparing and executing the RFx process in collaboration with stakeholders, which includes evaluating and selecting suppliers, negotiating costs, and finalising contracts.
You will have a strong understanding of procurement processes and experience of working within a construction procurement environment in the public sector.
Key Accountabilities: Develop, implement and drive Category Strategy for a complex group of categories, Oversee the execution of the end to end strategic sourcing process for all complex and high value Procurements within the categories in the group Ensure Supplier Relationship Management for key suppliers who have a significant impact on the organisation's business, with the objective of managing risk, managing performance and extracting more value from the supplier base.
Develop and sign off Supplier Strategies Act as Sourcing Business Partner for certain areas of the business or Pillars Use category expertise and external markets insights, to proactively propose alternative or innovative 3rd party solutions to senior and executive level stakeholders to anticipate issues before they arise.
Develop the Category Team and drive a high-performance culture Essential: Experience of working within a construction procurement environment in public sector Strong understanding of procurement processes and best practices Demonstrable excellent organisational, planning and time management skills, with ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines Demonstrable stakeholder management skills SC highly desirable; candidates with active SC clearance will be fast-tracked.
