Job summary The Primary Care PharmacyTechnician will operate as part of a team in a highly professional, efficient,and supportive prescribing hub.
The postholder will be supported and working alongside ateam of pharmacists and technicians in general practice.
In this role they willbe supported daily by a clinical team that includes an advanced clinicalpractioner pharmacist.
There is a clinical lead who will develop, manage andmentor them.
The post holder will support and contribute to the development of high-quality and cost-effective prescribing.
In addition, the postholder will facilitate the implementation of rational repeat prescribing strategies within GP Practices and develop expertise in the area of GP computer systems.The postholder shouldapproach working hours and location in a flexible manner and hours of work andduties may change subject to the needs of the organisation and on request andinstruction from line manager.
Main duties of the job Work pro-actively with the wider Prescribing Team to deliver quality, safe, cost effective and evidence-based prescribing.
Influence prescribing habits across the organisation.
Ensure compliance with the defined Prescribing Policy as agreed by the Lead Pharmacist and Prescribing Team.
Process secondary care discharge summaries and clinic letters.
Participate in audits and improve patient access to prescribing through audits.
Develop and implement formularies.

Identify medicine related problems or queries including supply and availability and work to resolve any such issues.
Undertake medication reviews and consultations to the scope of ability and practice, and with support, mentoring and coaching, expand to a wider scope.
Liaise with other healthcare professionals to assist in the continuity of excellent patient care across primary and secondary care.
Perform all duties in a highly professional and efficient manner including answering the telephone and face to face contact.
Undertake all tasks in an accurate and timely manner.

Person Specification Personal Attributes Essential The postholder will be diplomatic and considered, demonstrating integrity and honesty, be highly motivated and willingness and commitment to continuous development, learning and developing skills.
It is the postholders responsibility to seek guidance and coaching to continuously develop skills, knowledge, and experience.
The postholder is required to respect patient confidentiality and not divulge patient information unless sanctioned by the requirements of the role.
This includes any communication and the postholder should treat patients with dignity and respect and actively seek to assure an environment that facilitates this.
The postholder will function as an advocate for the organisation, always portray a professional image and contribute to continuously improving all aspects of the organisation and the service provided.
Qualifications Essential Qualified to level 3 NVQ, BTEC or Diploma in pharmacy service skills and pharmaceutical science.
GPhC registration.
Minimum 3 years post qualification experience and CPD Minimum 1-year Primary Care/Practice experience Experience working in a patient focused environment preferably gained in General Practice or NHS.
Demonstratable ability to analyse and interpret data and information accurately with excellent attention to detail and high levels of concentration.
IT literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Demonstratable experience and understanding of strict confidentiality.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to always demonstrate empathy and act courteously.
Able to work on own initiative and under pressure, prioritise workload and function as a team member.
The ability to work flexibly is essential.
