Job summary We have an exciting opportunity for a new role for anexperienced and highly motivated individual to join the One Life Primary CareNetwork (PCN) team in the town of Hartlepool.
You will be an enthusiastic andself-motivated person who wishes to work collaboratively to influence patientcare in this bespoke role.We are looking for General Practice Assistants to join our already established Primary Care Network in Hartlepool.
Main duties of the job GeneralPractice Assistants (GPAs) form part of a multi-disciplinary team withinprimary care, and provide a support role, carrying out administrative tasks,combined in some areas with basic clinical duties, helping to free up GPs time and contribute to thesmooth running of appointments, improving patients experience in the Practices.Asa newly established role, the post will be subject to development.
In-housetraining and supervision will be available for qualified GPAs as required andin line with duties, responsibilities, and the national competency framework.The successful candidate,if not already qualified, will be expected to enrol on the General PracticeAssistant accredited training pathway.

Our forward-thinkingPractices have 34,000 patients and have a range of Clinical Disciplinessupporting the GP team, including Clinical Pharmacists, Social Prescribing LinkWorkers, Mental Health Practitioner, First Contact Practitioner and CareCo-Ordinator.
Our PCN supports several training disciplines, including GPRegistrars and Medical students and can offer a strong mentoring and trainingapproach.
Job description Job responsibilities The post holder will report to the Practice Manager and thegeneral practitioners (GP(s)) and support the GP(s) to ensure the efficientprovision of medical services and clinics by performing several more routineadministrative and clinical duties.
This will allow the GP(s) to utilise theirown time more effectively towards greater patient focused activities.Additionally, this role will support both nursing andadministrative teams in the delivery of clinical and administrative services,working as part of the practice multidisciplinary team, delivering care withintheir scope of practice to the entitled patient population.
Utilising the NHS Health Education England GPACompetency Framework,the post holder working within general practice/primary care will providecapabilities within care, administration, clinical, communications and healthrecords management.Please review the attached job description for further details.
Person Specification Qualifications Essential GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths Desirable Healthcare qualification (Level 3 or 4) or working towards gaining equivalent level Phlebotomy certification Vaccination certification NVQ (Level 2 or 3) Business Administration Experience Essential Experience of working with the general public Experience of working in a healthcare setting Desirable Experience of working in a primary care environment Knowledge and Skills Essential Ability to perform venepuncture An understanding of chaperone procedure Ability to record accurate clinical notes Excellent communication skills (written and oral) Strong IT skills Clear, polite telephone manner Effective time management (planning and organising) Ability to work as a team member and autonomously Good interpersonal skills Ability to follow clinical policy and procedure Desirable Ability to carry out wound care/removal of sutures and staples Ability to perform ECGs Ability to carry out new patient medicals, including height, weight, BP, pulse Competent in the use of Office and Outlook Competent or awareness of SystmOne
