Job summary We are seeking a committed and dedicated person to join our maternity team as a preterm birth midwife.

You will be supported and developed by an experienced multi disciplinary team.We are seeking an enthusiastic individual who will work collaboratively with the MDT to implement SBL V3 and its commitment to reducing preterm term birth.
With an already established preterm clinic, we are committed to developing the role of the midwife within this specialist field.
Main duties of the job UHNM is looking for an enthusiastic Midwife to play a decisive role in leading in the development of care and management of women, who are at increased risk of preterm birth, together with our Lead Consultant and midwife.
You will also benefit from working closely with our fantastic Fetal Medicine will provide pregnant women with risk factors for preterm labour and birth with high quality, safe midwifery care in the antenatal and postnatal period.
The care will be evidence based and holistic in meeting women's individual needs and the midwife will be expected to work autonomously within the guidelines and sphere of professional practice.
Act as a mentor and or preceptor as required.

Job description Job responsibilities Key Areas/Tasks Ensure knowledge is evidence based and contemporary.
Maintain competence in providing midwifery care.
Promote normality in childbirth, taking account of the womans individual needs and risk factors.
Ensure women and their partners are provided with the information necessary for them to make informed decisions about their care.
Act as an advocate for the woman and birthing people Ensure practice meets the requirements of a practising midwife in accordance with the Nursing & Midwifery Councils Midwives Rules & Standards & Code of Professional Conduct.
Ensure practice and conduct is guided by Trust policies and guidelines.
Ensure all records and documentation including any electronic records, are accurate, legible and completed in a timely manner.
Take responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programs of care both according to unit policies and research in a hospital or community setting Provide appropriate counselling and able to cope with highly distressing or emotional circumstances on diagnosis of a high risk of having a preterm labour and birth.
Guide and support junior staff in this situation.
Training will be provided in the clinic to develop further skills in cervical length measurements by ultrasound Person Specification Qualifications Essential Registered Midwife with current UK NMC registration Degree in Midwifery or equivalent degree level study in health related subject mentorship qualificati Desirable NIPE qualification ENB 997/ mentorship qualification Knowledge and Skills Essential Post preceptoship experience in a rotational midwifery position Full driving licence with access to a car Ability to prioritise workload Excellent communication skills
